Lauren Oliver: biography and bibliography

Lauren Oliver was born in 1982 in Queens and grew up in New York's Westchester County - in a small place that is very similar to the place described in the writer's novel. Both her parents were professors of literature, and a creative atmosphere always reigned in the house. Parents from a very early age stimulated Lauren and her sister to compose various stories, draw, arrange costumed dances, developing creative imagination and ingenuity in daughters. And, of course, Lauren Oliver instilled a love for books and reading from childhood. The parental home was filled with art objects and a huge number of books. The writer admits that since then and to this day it is such a creative environment that she most likes.

Facts from biography

As already mentioned above, the love of reading was instilled by Lauren Oliver from childhood, and this love gradually developed into a craving for writing. She loved not only to read, but also to add endings to the books she liked, and even write to them the continuations. The writer often jokes that she began to write the so-called fanfics even before the term was invented. Later, Oliver Lauren began to write her own stories, creating and reviving a lot of characters in them.

In addition to writing stories, during her studies, Lauren was engaged in ballet, painting and drawing, cooking (which turned into another hobby for life), and as a whole tried to make her school life as diverse as possible.

Entering college in Chicago, Lauren Oliver studied there philosophy and literature. After college, she returned to her hometown and enrolled at New York University, where she successfully completed her Master of Arts studies. " The book tells the story of the girl Lizelle, whom her brutal stepmother locks in the attic. Once to her is Po - a ghost who is also alone, but together they brighten up each other's loneliness. But then a little girl disappears, and the second sister begins to suspect that the disappearances are somehow connected. Now she has to find her missing sister ... And they both have to find themselves.

Series "Delirium"

In addition to the books listed above, Lauren Oliver began in 2011 the creation of a trilogy under the general title "Delirium." Trilogy can be called books, revealing the theme of the "apocalypse of our time." The series includes three books, which will be discussed in more detail below.

But just from the world where love is recognized as a disease, it will not be able to escape ...

"Pandemonium" - the second book

Lauren Oliver's book "Pandemonium" continues the first part of the trilogy, "Delirium." The heroine managed to escape from the world of post-apocalypse, where a strict prohibition is imposed on love. Having managed to find and lose her love, she finds herself in the Wilderness, where there is no ban on feelings, but we have to wage a daily struggle for survival in the environment of both "clean" and infected people.

"Requiem" - the third book

The book is the third in a series and continues the story told in Delirium and Pandemonium. The heroine regains lost, seemingly, love. The government decides to begin a campaign on the Wildlands in order to eliminate the infected, and now it is necessary to stand up for the struggle for the sake of the future. Meanwhile, the best friend of the heroine continues to live in a world free from amor deliria, and is preparing for a wedding with the young mayor ... The denouement is close, and soon all victories will be won, secrets exposed, and feelings opened.

Annabel and Khana

These stories are also related to the trilogy "Delirium". The story of Lauren Oliver "Khan" (or "Hannah" in some translations) refers to the first part of the trilogy, sometimes it is also called "Delirium" # 1.1. The narrative is here on behalf of Hana Tate, the best friend of the main character of Lina's trilogy, and lets you look at what is happening with her eyes.

The story of Lauren Oliver "Annabel" complements the second book of the series. The plot is presented here on behalf of Lina's mother, who allegedly committed suicide - at least, so Lina was told.
