Latex filler: properties and application

Latex putty refers to the paintwork materials that are used to level the various surfaces before the paints are used. Usually the solution is applied after rough leveling with a plaster mixture of large drops or irregularities. The material is spread with a thin layer, since the latex filler can not withstand a thickness of more than a few millimeters, besides, excessive application increases costs due to the high cost of the product.

The putty includes pigments (zinc white, ocher, etc.), fillers (barite, chalk, talc, etc.), as well as a variety of film-forming substances. With a small number of components forming a film, the agent is no longer able to provide a quality equalization, in such cases it is used on a primer.

Latex putty has gained special popularity recently. This filling, leveling, quick-drying material is used for both external and internal finishing works. The agent finds its application in puttying concrete, primed, wooden, plastered and metal surfaces. Work with the solution is possible and in rooms with high humidity (semi-basement).

The standard thickness of the layer can reach 3 mm. If it is necessary to seal various holes, joints, riveted or welded seams, the material must be applied in layers, the thickness of which should be up to 1 mm.

Latex putty does not have toxicity, however, in case of eye contact, they should be rinsed, and it is better to work with glasses and protective gloves. Before use, the material must be diluted with water, then thoroughly mixed, while the temperature of the working surface and air should be above 5 degrees Celsius.

Before starting work, it is necessary to clean the wall of various contaminants (old paint, oil stains, dust), if necessary, moisten the surface with water. This latex filler is produced, which is used only for the final finishing of walls and ceilings. This matte pastelike material has a high elasticity.

After the application of the layer, the surface does not have to be sanded. The most popular putty Knauf uses in mechanical engineering and construction. For sale it is packed in plastic buckets at 1,5, 7, 15 and 28 kg., Where it can be stored for a year from the date of manufacture.

Latex putty should be only at a positive temperature, in an intact, tightly closed container, with a greater cold, the material is stored for no more than a month.

The agent has the following positive features. First, putty allows you to create a thin layer with a smooth surface. Secondly, the material has a high elasticity, which ensures the uniformity of the application. It has an exceptional adhesion to different substrates, creates a vapor-permeable coating. Due to the use of the product, the consumption of the following decorative materials is reduced.
