Lakes of Omsk region: the most popular reservoirs

Omsk Oblast is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation that is part of the Siberian Federal District. In the south, the region borders on Kazakhstan, and the rest of the border passes with the Novosibirsk, Tyumen and Tomsk regions.

This region is rich in rivers and lakes. The latter, in the region there are more than 20 thousand. Of these, 16,000 are freshwater, 4,000 are saline. Unfortunately, in recent years, many lakes in the Omsk region have been dramatically losing their water level, which leads to shallowing. This environmental problem is of concern to all residents of this region.

The Five Lakes System

Probably the most popular lakes in the region are the so-called "Five Lakes" system, mostly because they are shrouded in legends. There are reservoirs on the border of two regions - Omsk and Novosibirsk. This group includes four existing and one fictitious: Danilovo, Linevo, Shchuchye, Urman (it is also called Shaitan Lake) and the Secret.

These lakes of the Omsk region, according to one of the legends, were formed due to the fall of the meteorite. It is remarkable that each of these reservoirs was formed by a separate fragment of a meteorite. Also interesting is the fact that the Secret Lake was never found. Until now, its existence has not been officially confirmed. The pond is recognized as a legend. And one more legend says that the water in the "Five Lakes" group is medical, and if a person is bathed in all by turns, then he will be cured of various diseases. This myth is not groundless, the waters of the lakes are really rich in minerals of silver and are well saturated with oxygen. This place is popular among tourists.

Great Krutinskie Lake

Lakes of the Omsk region are represented by another popular group - Bolshie Krutinskie. It consists of 3 reservoirs - Saltaim, Ik and Tenis. Between them they are connected by ducts. The largest is Lake Ik. Dimensions: 12x8 km. It has stony high banks, the maximum depth of Ika is 5 meters.

Krutinsky lakes are a popular holiday destination for locals. Also in winter and summer - fishing is common here. There are a lot of waterfowl on the lakes, therefore hunting is very often carried out in these places. In addition, very rare species of birds live here, as well as a representative of the Red Book - Kinky Pelican.

Kamyshlovsky Log

Once the existing valley of the river Kamyshlovka created a chain of salt and fresh water bodies, which were called the Kamyshlovsky Log. The small lakes of the Omsk region, which are found here for more than 500 km, can dry out and appear back, depending on the seasonal factor. Their composition can also be different - some of the reservoirs with fresh water, and the rest - with salt.

Lake Ulzha

Also in these parts are ponds, which are known for their medicinal properties. Rest on the lakes of the Omsk region is very popular due to the presence of therapeutic mud. One of these reservoirs is Lake Ulzhay. Since 1978 it has been officially recognized as a natural monument. The pond is shallow, its average depth is only 50 cm, but the bottom to a depth of 1-2 m has an oily substance consisting of black mud. It is widely used to treat skin problems and diseases.

Lake Ebeyta (Omsk Region)

But the most famous was the salt lake of Ebeyta, which became so popular due to its healing properties. It was located in the south-western part of the region. This is the largest salt lake in this region - its size is 12x13 km, and the average depth is about 1 meter. The bottom has a silt character, which includes many salts and healing black mud, consisting of sodium, chloride and sulfates. Lake Ebeyta (Omsk region) has a sandy coastline on which it is very comfortable to spend the time of summer vacation. Very often mud from the reservoir is used in the sanatoriums of the region for the prevention and treatment of epidermal and musculoskeletal diseases. That is why these places are quite popular among local residents and the entire population of Russia.

The rich animal world of the lakes of the Omsk region

Thanks to such a generous number of reservoirs on the territory of the region, fishing is widespread everywhere. Burbot, pike perch, peled, perch, carp, crucian carp, bream and many other kinds of fish "inhabit" the lakes of the Omsk region. Fishing in some reservoirs is paid, since they are found in representatives of water fauna, listed in the Red Book. There are also such areas where fishing is strictly forbidden, in case of violation, administrative responsibility (fine) is imposed.
