Kuzbasslak: application and characteristics

Special means are used to protect the surface of materials. One of them is varnish BT-577 (or "Kuzbasslak"). This product is used to protect metal, wood and concrete surfaces both outdoors and indoors.

Description

"Kuzbasslak" began to produce even before the outbreak of the First World War. Over time, its composition has changed slightly. Previously, P-4 was used as the solvent. Because of this, the layer of varnish dries very long (from 24 to 32 hours). Currently, the composition includes synthetic additives that accelerate the drying process and give the treated surface additional gloss.

Lacquer BT-577 is a homogeneous in composition and viscous liquid of black color without foreign impurities. It is a coal tar pitch dissolved in organic solvents (benzene, naphtha). Drying oils are not included in the composition. The use of the product together with a chemically resistant perchlorovinyl varnish in the ratio 1: 1 is allowed.

To improve the quality and increase the life of the surfaces, iron surrey (up to 30-34%) or aluminum powder (up to 15-20%) is added to it.

Kuzbasslak, whose average price is 50 rubles per 1 liter, is a solution of polymer resins, bitumens in organic solvents. Also, special additives are added to the formulation, which improve physical and chemical properties, performance characteristics.

Technical characteristics of the tool

"Kuzbasslak" (its application we will discuss below) has the following protective and waterproofing properties:

• Lacquer has good adhesion to surfaces of various types;

• The layer of the product is obtained glossy, durable, the pores are practically absent;

• It is resistant to mechanical influences and significant loads. After removing the load, the coating is restored to its own values;

• Withstands temperature changes and severe frosts, does not crack from cold;

• Even under adverse weather conditions, the varnish layer retains its structure and the quality of the coating;

• Does not allow microorganisms to appear.

The surface of materials treated with varnish is not afraid of frost, moisture (even seawater), sun exposure (ultraviolet radiation), corrosion. After completely drying it can be cleaned using detergents.

It is allowed to increase the viscosity of Kuzbasslak during storage. Before using it, dilute it with a solvent in an amount up to 10%. This will not entail a deterioration in the indicators and characteristics of the facility.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of BT-577 varnish include the following:

• High quality protection.

• Availability.

• Versatility.

• High degree of protection against corrosion.

• Ease of use.

Economic efficiency is another significant plus in favor of the Kuzbasslak. Its application in several layers does not entail large expenditures, since only 100-200 ml of the funds will be spent per square meter.

Of the shortcomings can be identified only one - black color, which is difficult to cover with other means if necessary.

Lacquer BT-577 is not applied to the material in production. It is used at the end of the installation work.

Kuzbasslak: application

The agent is used mainly to protect metal, concrete (reinforced concrete), brick surfaces from the influence of atmospheric factors. As a waterproofing can also be used means "Kuzbasslak." The use of wood is another direction in the use of this composition. This is done to prevent decay of wood.

To protect vehicles (mostly bottoms) from the appearance of corrosion, Kuzbasslak is also used. The use of the means is justified also in cases with other techniques: for the protection of trailers, carts, towbars and so on.

Used BT-577 for gluing roll or sheet materials when laying the roof. To do this, do not use open fire, which reduces the likelihood of fire.

When using Kuzbasslak before the paint is applied (other paints), it will replace the primer coat.

Application of funds

It is applied in various ways: with a brush, a rag, a roller, spraying with a pulverus. Individual parts of small dimensions can simply be dipped in a lacquer solution.

The surface to be treated must be clean, free of dirt, dust and rust.

Apply "Kuzbasslak" in several layers (usually two or three layers are enough). The drying time depends on the temperature and can vary from a few hours to a day. As a drying accelerator, a desiccant can be used which is added to the solution.

Use the product is allowed in the temperature range plus 10-20 degrees. To store the temperature should be in the range from minus forty to plus forty degrees.

Lacquer BT-577 is a toxic substance. Therefore, all work should be carried out using personal protective equipment and compliance with other safety requirements.
