Kress Viktor Melchiorovich was born in 1948. He was born in the village of Vlasovo-Dvorino, which is located in the Kostroma region. It belonged to the Palkin district, which is now renamed Antropovsky.

His parents by origin were Germans, and by occupation peasants. In addition to the hero of our article, they had five more sons and one daughter. While still in elementary school, Kress Viktor Melkhiorovich spent all his spare time from work with his parents at the farm. He received a diploma in secondary education in the village of Yashkino, which is located in the Kemerovo region.

Work experience

In 1971, Kress Viktor Melkhiorovich received a diploma of an agricultural institute in Novosibirsk. From there he went to work in the Tomsk region, where he settled.

The hero of our article was distributed to the state farm "Kornilovsky". At first he became the eldest, and eventually the chief agronomist. The young specialist quickly climbed the career ladder. Already in the mid-1970s, the sovkho Rodina, located in the Tomsk region of the Tomsk Region, became the head of the state farm.

Since 1979, Kress Viktor Melkhiorovich has been working in the regional production association "Selskhozhimiya", which is engaged in agrochemical services for the whole agricultural sector.

With the beginning of perestroika, I received a new appointment, also related to the sphere of agriculture. Now he is deputy chairman of the agro-industrial committee of the Tomsk region. In this position, he oversaw production issues.

Political career

In the late 80's, Kress Viktor Melchiorovich was seriously puzzled by the need to start political activity. To begin with, he becomes a secretary in the Pervomaisky District Committee of the CPSU.

At the same time, he increases his education, finishing the Russian Academy of Management in the specialty of "political scientist".

In March 1990, Viktor Kress in Tomsk becomes a regional deputy. Moreover, in a month he is elected chairman of the local council of people's deputies. At the same time, he takes the prudent position of a "moderate" MP. He equally eschewed both the radical democrats and conservatives who advocated communist ideology.

During the putsch in Moscow, Kress and the entire regional council in Tomsk did not support the coup. Already on August 23 the hero of our article officially announced the withdrawal from the regional committee of the party, because his position radically differed from the line of the CPSU.

At the head of the Tomsk region

The governor of the Tomsk region for the first time Kress was appointed direct presidential decree in 1991. In the nationwide election, the hero of our article first took part in 1995. He managed to win already in the first round, although in a bitter struggle. He was supported by slightly less than 52% of voters.

In 1999, he was re-elected to the post of governor of the Tomsk region, winning an even more convincing victory.

In 2007, when direct elections of the heads of regions were canceled, the head of state introduced the candidacy of Kress for consideration by the oblast Duma. Thus, he managed the region until 2011.

Work in the Federation Council

In 2012, Kress Viktor Melkhiorovich was sent to the Federation Council as an authorized representative of the administration of the Tomsk region.

In this position he has been working so far, representing the interests of the region in federal authorities.

Scandals with Kressom

For his political career, Kress Victor Melkhiorovich, whose biography was closely connected with the Tomsk region, was often at the center of major scandals.

For example, in 2001, right at the session of the regional parliament, a chicken egg was thrown at him. The sabotage was carried out by a nowhere working citizen named Anishchenko. As he made his way into the hall, it remained a mystery. However, the highly aggrieved hater of power failed to get to the governor. Tom managed to dodge.

In 2010, Sergei Zaikov attacked Kress. This happened during the open meeting of the City Duma. He struck the governor in the face, accusing him of the death of his grandmother. The blow was so strong that the head of the region had blood. Shortly thereafter, the district court arrested Zaikov in a criminal case for the use of violence against a representative of the authorities. Supporters of the governor spoke of a political order on the part of his direct opponents. Zaikov was first taken under arrest, but then released under a written undertaking not to leave the place. In the summer of 2011, the court sentenced him to 2.5 years in a general-regime colony.

In 2010, Kress Viktor Melchiorovich in the post of governor of the Tomsk region equated terrorists with oppositionists who are dissatisfied with the current authorities. This happened at a meeting of the Public Safety Council, which was urgently held after the terrorist attacks in the Moscow metro.

Also, Cress became famous for harsh statements in the course of communication with journalists. For example, he told the Interfax news agency that if United Russia could not win elections to the city parliament, this would affect the well-being of all citizens. The city will not get funding, and the governor himself will lose the prerogative to solve important issues for the region in the federal center. In the elections, he urged to go pragmatically, and not vote in the heart, as they did before. It was this slogan that was extremely popular in the presidential elections in 1996, when Yeltsin was able to defeat Communist Zyuganov. Then, by the way, Kress's political career began to develop.

In 2014, already working as a senator in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, Kress made a scandal at a press conference in the publication "RIA Novosti Tomsk." The ex-governor entered into a verbal skirmish with journalist Stanislav Mikryukov, who represented the opposition publication Novo-Tomsk, famous for its sharp materials, which criticized the work of local authorities. Mikryukova left the press conference asked the presenter. At the same time, the spokesman for the hero of our article, Andrei Orlov, in relation to the journalist expressed himself in a capacious and sharp voice: "The Idiot."

Personal life

Victor Kress is married. Together with his wife Lyudmila Vasilievna, he brought up two adult children. Now they have four grandchildren.

The ex-governor's wife works in the regional committee of state statistics. He is the leading economist in the pricing department. His daughter Elena went to medicine. I chose the profession of a cardiologist, now I work in a specialty in one of the clinics.

The son of Kress Vyacheslav seriously engaged in legal practice. He heads the Arbitration Court of the Far Eastern District.
