Knights of the Round Table: "Strength is not justice, justice is power".

As a child, at night, our parents told various folk tales about animals, kind and unkind people. But in England a man will laugh, if he does not know who King Arthur and knights of the Round Table are. Since childhood, the inhabitants of this country have been taught love for the famous exploits of English knights. If our children play wars in childhood and imagine themselves as Alyosha Popovich or Ilya Muromets, then the English fight on artificial swords, representing themselves as Lancelot or Arthur.

"Strength is not justice, justice is power."

How did it all start? If you believe in legends in which reality goes mixed with fiction, then the Knights of the Round Table conduct their history from the Kornoulean castle of Tintagel. According to the legend, the brave knight of Gorlua and his wife Igran, who conquered the beauty of King Uther Pendragon, lived there. Unable to fall in love with a woman, the king resorts to charms and asks for help from the wizard Merlin, who lived back in time. He turned Uther's appearance into the appearance of Gorlua. And only then he achieved the disposition of the girl, and soon from their connection a boy was born, who was named Arthur. Even before his birth, he was destined to become a brave and wise king, as the wizard took care of his birth. The famous knight with his wife Guinevere settled in the castle of Camelotte. It was there that the Knights of the Round Table climbed for the first time. The idea followed the example of the Last Supper. King Arthur intended to make honor, nobility and heroic deeds the main feature of the kingdom. Gathering round the table, they decided questions about the kingdom, it was a peculiar body of legislative, executive and judicial power.

Renunciation from honor

He did not sue Arthur's kingdom for a long time to be an example of nobility. First Knight Tristan fell in love with the wife of the Irish King Mark - Isolde, and then Arthur was defeated by love. One of the knights of Lancelot blazed with a fervent feeling for Guinevere, who answered him. Arthur managed to carry nobility through his whole life, and did not lose it even in this situation, showing an example for others. All the Knights of the Round Table knew about the relationship between Lancelot and Guinevere, but Arthur remained silent, so as not to provoke the destruction of the brotherhood. It turns out that not all the knights were so noble and worthy of this title. Modred persuaded Arthur to go on a hunt in the hope that the beloved will appoint a meeting. So it happened, but the cunning Modred did not stop at this and burst into the bedroom to Guinevere. Learning of this Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, were forced to react. Their sentence was cruel: to burn the unfaithful wife at the stake. Guinevere was tied to a pillar, the executioner prepared and waited for Arthur's order, but he hesitated. And finally, Lancelot appeared, who stole Guinevere. It was exactly this outcome that Arthur was waiting for. As a result, the fraternity had to go on a campaign against the Franks, and the same Modred took advantage of Arthur's absence and decided to seize power. Upon learning of this, the king immediately deployed his army home. Near the river Komblan a fierce battle took place between Arthur and Modred, which resulted in the death of many glorious knights. Modred was also killed by Arthur, but before he died, he managed to injure the king. Lying by the river, Arthur asked the knight of Bodywilder to throw his sword out at Combann, so that the sword would die with its master and no one could tarnish it with renunciation of honor, injustice and meanness. From the river there was the hand of a woman who took the famous sword. The noble life of Arutra ended with an equally noble death.

Where is the truth, and where is the fiction?

Now there is much debate about the existence of Arthur and his knights. Were the Knights of the Round Table really so noble as they are drawn now, and in general did these people exist? Many castles, in particular Tintagel, in which Arthur was born, still exists, although from them only ruins remained. Documents of that time also confirm the existence of Arthur, Lancelot and other knights. But whether they really were so noble - it is not known, and what a difference. The main thing is that this beautiful legend bears an instructive meaning, and the knights of the Round Table are all young people.
