KAMAZ-"farmer" (models 5511 and 55103)

Each construction company or agricultural enterprise has at its disposal at least one dumper or grain carrier. In Russia, most of these cars are produced at the KamAZ plant (Naberezhnye Chelny) and they are called models 55103 and 5511. These two models of trucks do not at all differ by a very high level of comfort, but low price and unpretentiousness in service make them pay attention to them. Design

Until the 2000s, the situation with the appearance of trucks remained virtually unchanged - all the same round headlights, a low cabin and a powerful steel bumper. The design of the car was reminiscent of the exterior of the model 5320, on the basis of which, by the way, the KamAZ-farmer was also built. After 5 years, the company made small changes to the exterior of the models - now the cab appeared a lot of plastic, and the headlights became square. And only to the 35th anniversary of the model, the Kamsky plant decided to introduce drastic changes in the design of the truck. Since 2008, the new KamAZ-farmer has been adapted to European requirements and has become more comfortable inside and attractive outside. The lines of the cabin have changed and the bumper has changed its design a little.

Differences between models

To distinguish the model 55103 from 5511 is very simple: on the first there are special mesh-type sides (they are also called accreted ones), which allow to transport agricultural products in a larger volume. Model 5511 had a protective cover over the cab, which, in case of overturning of materials during loading, protected the driver from sudden danger. Also it is worth noting that KamAZ-"farmer" had several types of unloading - two- and three-way.

Specifications

The car is equipped with one diesel engine for eight cylinders. Its power is 240 horsepower, and the working volume is 10.8 liters. KamAZ-"farmer" in the 70 years of the last century was supplied with a unique gear box at that time - with dividers. It is worth noting that the 10-mortar is also actual on KamAZ, because the synchronizer allows the engine to distribute the optimum power to the wheels. As for the wheel formula, it remained unchanged since the time of the USSR - 6x4. The load capacity of the machine is 11,000 kilograms.

Dimensions and volume of the cargo hold

The length of the truck is 7.57 meters, width - exactly 2.5 meters, and height - 2.9 meters. The use of a special cab-free cabin layout allowed engineers to achieve not only good visibility from the driver's seat, but also an increased cargo space, which is about fifteen cubic meters.

KAMAZ-"farmer" - the price

At the moment the cost of a new truck in Russia is about 1 million 820 thousand rubles. The price of trucks with a restyled cabin and a new trailer (that is, a road train) is about 3 million rubles. If we compare the cost of the car with foreign competitors, then KamAZ definitely wins in price, and several times.
