Jaw Crushers - general information

Jaw crushers are a versatile and most reliable mechanism for grinding materials. They are used as a tool for crushing slag waste, rocks, some metallic materials. Dimensions of pieces of raw materials at the inlet can be up to 1500 millimeters. Crushers of small size give out the finished product in sizes up to 10 millimeters. Jaw crushers are divided into crushing classes into small, medium and large.

They are actively used to crush strong rock, for example, quartz, basalt, granite, and also materials similar to them in terms of properties - concrete, slag, minerals. It is much easier to grind such substances as ceramic waste, brick, coal, scrap glass. Jaw crushers have such basic characteristics as the dimensions of the receiving aperture, the diameter of the output slit, and also the gripping angle. The particle size of the original substance directly depends on the size of the receiving slot. The gripping angle must be set so that the raw material is not pushed out of the chamber, but can be grinded. The size of the outlet hole is controlled by the maximum output parameters of the product.

Jaw crushers are unpretentious and reliable mechanisms widely used in the extractive industry, in the process of manufacturing construction and related materials, in metallurgical production, in the transport field, and in the chemical industry.

This unit has a lot of advantages:

- jaw crushers are quite simple to operate, and also cheap because of their simple design and minimum parts subject to rapid wear. Maintenance and repair of this type of equipment are low-cost, while in the technical plan are not at all complicated;

- small sizes allow them to be easily installed and transported, and they represent the optimal solution for mobile crushing systems;

- they can be exploited in almost all conditions, since they are unpretentious to external factors;

- the discharge slit is controlled by a hydraulic drive, which allows it to be adjusted quickly and easily;

- Jaw crushers of all sizes and types are equipped with fixed cheeks, which have a female shape. This prevents premature wear on the machine frame.

This type of device has some drawbacks:

- jaw crushers produce the final result, in which there is a large number of bushy grains, which makes it inconvenient to use them for fine crushing;

- on elastic or viscous materials - polymers, wood, metal alloys - their use is impossible. That is why the wood shredder operates on a different principle.

Types of devices

In the market, these crushers are presented in several inexpensive and reliable options. The first assumes a simple movement of the cheek in relation to the suspension axis. The starting product is crushed by crushing. In the second, the movement of the cheek relative to the suspension is complex. Here the material is not only crushed, but also abraded when the moving part approaches a fixed one. In the third type, both cheeks make a complex motion with respect to the suspension axis.
