Is there a permanent grain exhibition in Russia?

To date, there are fewer than 20 major museums around the world dedicated to bread and other pastries. Residents of Russia were doubly lucky, because in our country there are just two unique collections dedicated to this food. Where are these unusual exposures? One museum of bread is located in St. Petersburg, near the metro station "Ploshad Vosstaniya", the second - in Moscow, in the historic complex "Kremlin Izmailovo." Remarkable is the fact that the expositions are not interrelated, but have much in common. They tell the history of flour baking, old documents and recipes, and you can see an impressive collection of samples of bakery products of different periods and traditions.

The first museum of bread in Russia (St. Petersburg)

The exposition dedicated to baking was opened in the city on the Neva in 1988. Already in 1993, the branch museum received the status of state, and therefore, a significant stimulus to development. Bread products have been present in the culture of many civilizations since time immemorial. Even today, in an age of abundance and technological progress, the most honorable and important guests are met with a delicious loaf and salt shaker (bread and salt). And this is not without reason: how many proverbs are composed about bakery products, many signs and rites are associated with them. Even in Orthodox traditions, "our daily bread" is mentioned.

The exposition tells the full and detailed history of this product. In the collection you can see the bread norm, issued in blockade Leningrad, a variety of old recipes, utensils and appliances used for baking. The exact address on which the museum of bread is located: St. Petersburg, Ligovsky Proezd, house 73. The exposition is open for visits on weekdays (from Monday to Friday), from 10.00 to 16.00.

Museum dedicated to bread, in Moscow

The Moscow Bread Museum also tells about the traditions of baking the main product from antiquity to our days. The museum complex offers several different excursion programs: these are lessons for children, and family trips to the world of bread, and even master classes. Having visited this unique exposition, you can try to cook your own cakes according to different recipes, beautifully decorate it and take it with you as a memorable souvenir. If during the cultural program the guests have an appetite, after the excursion you can visit the buffet. The Museum of Bread offers its visitors a real tea from a samovar and fresh pastries. In the buffet you can organize a festive tea-drinking on the preliminary request. The Moscow Bread Museum is housed in an interior stylized as an old Russian cottage. The organization works without days off, from Monday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 20.00. Attention: preliminary registration is required for participation in master classes.

Other cereal collections and exhibitions

Many tourists who visited the museum of bread, get such vivid impressions that they want to learn more about such an important food product. Is there any other collection in Russia dedicated to the history and modern variety of bakery products? There are no more large state expositions of this subject in our country. However, any large bakery has its own mini-museum of products. Often, such expositions are received by guests, and sometimes excursions are carried out even in real production workshops.

You can also visit the mini-museum of bread in many institutions of preschool and secondary education. The tradition of creating their own exhibitions and collecting thematic collections is supported by many schools and kindergartens. And very often such exhibitions are dedicated to bakery products as one of the main things in the diet of mankind for centuries. What is especially nice, many mini-museums can be visited completely free of charge during open days.
