Is it worth installing Windows 10 on a laptop?

In late July, Microsoft Corporation took an absolutely unprecedented step, releasing the newest and allegedly revolutionary "OSes" of Windows 10. Is it worth it to install it like this in the summer, the question is quite controversial. Let's try to weigh all the pros and cons and see how the system behaves not on stationary computers, but on laptops.

Is it worth installing Windows 10: first impression

To begin with, the system has become available on the official Microsoft portal for downloading or online installation for free, which was never observed before. After all, before the licensed "Windows" was expensive enough, and not every user could afford to buy it. That's why most users used only pirated or hacked copies with already activated keys found on the Internet.

Here everything is different. The fact is that the "ten" itself is installed initially as a way of updating the existing system (only for Windows 7 and higher), which was not the case before. With all this, after installation, you can see that the product itself has already been activated. Activation keys should be used only in case of a clean reinstallation after the update. But the key itself is sent to the registered user either by e-mail or by the phone specified when the Microsoft account was received. So in this sense, the question of whether to install Windows 10, definitely has the answer: "Yes!". Everything is free. Even now appeared an update to the version of Pro.

System requirements for a laptop

As for the hardware configuration, they are surprisingly low enough. For the normal operation of the system requires only a 2-core processor and 2 gig of RAM (even on an old "laptop" there will be no problems with performance), and for the initial installation - about 20 GB of free disk space (when upgrading to Pro - more Plus 10 GB). By the way, if you want, if something does not like the "ten", you can always go back to the old system, but only on the condition that its files have not been deleted.

If you do not return to the original state, after installation, you can delete all bootable files "tens", and at the same time files of the old system (only with the standard disk cleaning tool). Thus, about 25-30 GB on the hard drive is released. In this regard, the question of whether to install Windows 10, has a slightly different aspect, because you can try the system in practice, and only then decide whether to leave it as the main one or to demolish it.

Interface

Several unusual users of the "seven" or even "ekspishki" may seem an interface, devoid of any hint of volumetricity. But users of Windows 8 or 8.1 will not open almost nothing new.

But what is certainly pleasing is the return to the original place of the "Start" button with the opening double menu: one classic (albeit somewhat modified), the second - part of the Metro interface.

Now a few words about the main question related to Windows 10: is it worth installing a laptop on such a system? If the screen supports touchscreen operation or is a transformer (both laptop and tablet at the same time), there is an interesting possibility of switching from a stationary mode of operation to a flatbed in one motion. Very convenient, and this is a definite plus. In addition, the system supports several desktops and displays several active programs on the screen, simplifying access to them.

Advanced Features

Now consider another aspect of Windows 10. Whether it is worth installing the system from the point of view of new or improved features, everyone decides for himself. For many, access to them may seem very unusual, because some of the names or locations of the services have been changed. On the other hand, if you deal with them, the user gets quite powerful tools for administration. And not only.

The newest, perhaps, today is the most cool browser Edge, extended support for Xbox game consoles with the ability to broadcast games over the network, the video streaming module Game DVR, the intelligent assistant Cortana, the widespread use of voice commands, biometric identification at the entrance to the system - that's far from complete A list of all that is available in the new system.

Compatibility with games and programs

Now let's see if it's worth installing Windows 10 for games or any other applications. Some users argue that the game after the transition to the "top ten" does not work. Not true. Sometimes the driver of the graphics adapter can "fly off" (this really happens), but if you install it again, there will be no problems.

And if you use all the processor cores (which is completely elementary) and dig into the graphics card settings (even an integrated model like Intel HD Graphics on the laptop), the image on the crane will be much better than in the same "seven" or "eight". Yes, plus full support for DirectX 12, which in general, further extends the graphics capabilities of the computer system ... So think about whether to install Windows 10 instead of the seventh or eighth version.

However, the minus is one not very pleasant moment. Although it is stated that the "ten" is not too gluttonous in terms of resources, this is not entirely true. There are a lot of services working in the background. But if you approach the problem with knowledge, you will not be able to disable all unnecessary or consuming maximum amount of system resources.

Here it is still necessary to say that if a normal upgrade to Windows 10 is made, all the programs installed in the previous system work without problems. The inability to run certain applications can only be associated with a clean installation of "tens", as they say, from scratch. However, not all programs that previously functioned in normal mode without failures can not always be installed. However, even now it can be confidently asserted that the worldwide demand for a new system has begun, that software developers will clearly hurry to release special versions designed specifically for the tenth version of Windows, which will function perfectly correctly.

Windows 10: Is it worth it to install? What in the end?

However, this is not all that can be said about the new system. Naturally, it has its pluses and minuses. Even the first available version for download looked a little raw. On the other hand, if you carry out updates, which, unfortunately, even when the automatic mode is installed are not always loaded and installed, the "dozens" will always work at the highest level. The main thing is not to clutter it with unnecessary trash (this applies to all Windows operating systems).

Finally it remains to say that the answer to the question is whether to install Windows 10, each user finds himself, but I think the pluses of the "tens" still have more than minuses. In extreme cases, if you do not like it, you can always return to the system that was installed earlier.
