Installing the bonnet lock - additional protection for your car

The danger of car theft in our time is quite high, so the overwhelming number of car enthusiasts think about the measures that will make the car hijacking impossible or at least create additional difficulties for the intruder. This will help to buy time, which is so expensive for a hijacker, and will force him to abandon his plans. For this, a whole complex of anti-theft devices is installed on the car, including the installation of the bonnet lock. As you know, the engine compartment is very important. Often, there are, among other things, and the main components of the anti-theft device, such as the control unit and siren, so the hijacker seeks as soon as possible to enter there to turn off the car alarm. Installing the bonnet lock will make it difficult to access there.

The bonnet locks are of two types: electromechanical and simply mechanical. Each of them has both its advantages and disadvantages. Electromechanical can be called more complex and require frequent maintenance for stable operation, but they are more reliable than mechanical ones. Reliability they give the fact that they open with the electric drive signal from the keychain, while for opening the mechanical locks a key is used, which means that it can be opened with the help of bumping.

So, let's name the main reasons for which the hood protection is necessary:

  1. Do not allow you to turn off the sound of the car alarm siren that the hijacker is trying to Do first of all, so as not to attract attention to yourself. In most cases, car theft, when an unsuccessful attempt to turn off the alarm, the hijacker stops.
  2. It does not allow to unlock the engine if there are installed locks under the hood, where they are more securely protected than in the cabin.
  3. Locking the hood, even with the help of various devices used by the hijackers, such as autonomous power, a universal ignition module and special control systems, will not allow you to start and steal a car.
  4. The installation of the bonnet lock on European car brands closes the access to the diagnostic connector through which it is easy to find the blocked chain and unlock it and also to replace the engine control unit located also under the hood.
  5. On Japanese brands of cars, such as Nissan and Huyndai, the installation of the bonnet lock is simply necessary if the gearbox is locked. The design of the gearbox on these cars allows you to turn on the transmission from under the open hood, without touching the gear lever lock, which makes its installation meaningless.
  6. Monoblock car alarm, installed under the hood, can be simply turned off with a key or a lap of a monoblock larva, thereby disabling the alarm system.
  7. And, of course, the installed hood lock does not give the hijacker the opportunity to profit by details and knots of the car in case of an unsuccessful attempt to steal, if he managed to get under the hood of the car.

To install the lock on the hood, we advise you to contact the professionals, as this is a rather complicated process, as well as its selection for a particular brand of car. Having saved on specialists, you can simply lose a car, because the handicraft installation of the lock creates only a visibility of the car's security and a minimum of problems for the hijacker.
