Ureaplasmas are tiny bacteria that live on the mucous membrane of the urinary tract and the genital organs of a person. These are conditionally pathogenic microorganisms that can provoke a whole range of diseases, but they also occur in absolutely healthy people. For example, statistics indicate the presence of ureaplasma in every third of the girl born. But in infants-boys, this microorganism is very rare.

Ureaplasmosis - what is it? It is a small parasitizing organism, which in most cases is cured with time on its own in newborns. Especially the percentage of self-healing is great for boys. The end result shows that the disease occurs in schoolgirls who do not live sexually, in 6-23% of cases.

How can I get infected?

4. May provoke premature birth or spontaneous abortion.

Ureaplasmosis: consequences

Like any other disease, ureaplasmosis should be diagnosed and treated on time, otherwise the consequences can be irreversible. The danger of this disease lies in the fact that it is practically asymptomatic, but it can affect absolutely any area of the genitourinary system. Long-term development of the disease without proper treatment can lead to the following problems in women:

• Vaginitis (inflammatory processes of the vagina);
• Cervicitis (inflammatory process of the cervical mucosa ) ;
• Endometritis (diseases of the mucous membrane of the uterus itself);
• Adnexitis (inflammation of the appendages and ovaries);
• Salpingitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes).

Salpingitis in neglected form often makes a woman barren because of the formation of adhesions in the pipes. This disease can provoke ectopic pregnancy.

But the most terrible consequences of ureaplasmosis threaten pregnant women. Insidious microorganisms are able to provoke not only the pathology of pregnancy, but also lead to premature birth. And yet, a sick ureaplasmosis mother during childbirth will also infect the baby.

For men, the consequences of infection are not as devastating as for women. However, the symptomatology of the disease manifests itself late in them, which allows the development of diseases such as inflammatory processes of the prostate gland (prostatitis), and a decrease in the activity of spermatozoa.
