Impathetic glandular, or balsam ferruginous: a description

A beautiful and very delicate plant of the touchy (the Balsamin family) belongs to the numerous genus, which is called - Nedotraga. It has over 500 plant species. The garden "career" of these plants developed with varying success: there was a time when they were admired, and then undeservedly forgotten.

Today, they are once again attracted by the attention of gardeners and flower lovers. Yellow, purple, crimson, pink flowers, long flowering are the main distinguishing features of these plants.

Spread

A short-sighted native comes from the Himalayas. It was brought in as an ornamental plant. He prefers wet shady areas, grows along the banks of rivers and lakes. The plant grows naturally in tropical Africa and Asia, some representatives of the genus in America and Europe.

In our country, almost everywhere you can meet an ordinary girl with small or large yellow flowers, as well as a glandular, in which the flowers are pink. We will tell about them in this article.

Name

The name of the genus Shortcut consists of two Latin words: im, which means "no", and patiens, which translates as "endure", "endure". Thus, the name of the genus means "a plant that does not tolerate when it is touched." It comes from the property of this plant to respond to the slightest touch.

Shortcut ordinary

Herbaceous annual plant up to 80 cm high with erect juicy stem and friable, branchy root. Leaves petiolate, regular, with large denticles along the edge, oval.

Flowers are dangling, irregular, lemon-yellow, with a spur, usually collected in a brush. Fruit is an oblong boll. During ripening, when it touches it, it becomes cracked and throws out the seeds contained inside. Blossoms are common from the second half of June to the end of September. Prefers raw shaded areas, forms impenetrable thickets.

The chemical composition of this plant has not been sufficiently studied. It is known for certain that during the flowering of the touchy sheep contains 68.5% of vitamin C.

Application of the intangible ordinary

The plant is used only by folk healers. Infusion of herbs are taken as an anti-inflammatory and diuretic for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, edema, kidney stone disease. In addition, it is used and as an emetic. Infusion of grass is washed with wounds and ulcers. Baths with infusion give a good effect for joint pain. Shredded leaves are applied to bruises, hemorrhoids.

Shortcut ordinary has long been successfully applied by folk healers. For use in medicinal purposes, the plant is cut entirely during flowering. Dry the raw materials, spreading in the shade or in a well-ventilated room. Impatient is used for external and internal bleeding, with stones in the bladder and kidneys.

Preparation of the infusion

Two tablespoons (table) of the minced raw, brew 500 ml of boiling water in a thermos. Leave it to infuse for five hours. At the end of this time, strain. Take the remedy in a warm form. During the day, you need to drink 200 ml of the drug in equal parts. The touchstone acts on the uterus, causing its intensive contraction with heavy bleeding. In addition, this infusion is recommended for the treatment of bleeding from the bladder and rectum. It is applied externally, for the treatment of ulcers, wounds, hemorrhoids.

Shortcut ordinary - honey, medicinal, dye and poisonous plant. Self-medication should not be carried away, even if one of your friends advises you to "have a drink of grass".

Impathic glandular: a description

This is also an annual. It grows to two meters. Stems are straight, having internodes, often transparent, juicy, filled with juice. Leaves are regular, elliptical forms, whole. The plate is shiny and delicate. Their length is 10 cm, the edges are serrated.

The second name of the plant is balsam ferruginous (balsamina pellicular). The stalk of the plant is thick, strongly branched, knotty, juicy. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate, in length can reach 12 cm. They are notched at the edge, with winged petioles. In the upper part of the stem they gather in whorls.

Wine-red, white, pink flowers of this species are intimate, large, simple, collected in umbellate brushes of 10-14 pieces. Petals 3-3.5 cm long. Flowers have a delicate and gentle smell, are pollinated by various insects, but more often by bumblebees.

Impatricular glandular has interesting features. Its leaves bloom at the edges of the drops of sweet and fragrant juice, which forms during the evaporation of the crystalline sugar. They attract ants. Peduncles during flowering significantly elongate and hide, as under an umbrella, under the leaves, protecting the flowers from the rain.

The diameter of the flower (if there is enough heat and moisture) is 3 cm. In arid years of intractable glandular it is covered with small flowers, however, in large quantities. They are more closed, but when seeds come from these flowers in a fertile environment, they give beautiful large, well-developed flowers.

Fruit is an oblong multifamily juicy box, which consists of five leaves. During ripening the joints become weak, and the box is constantly stressed. If you slightly shake the stem or slightly touch the box, it immediately bursts with a crash, and dark brown seeds are thrown forcefully to a distance of up to two meters. Each year, many new plants grow from them. Seeds are spread by birds and animals over long distances. They do not lose their germination for eight years.

Shortcomings and Magic

In ancient times, it was believed that the intractable glandular is able to magically open locks, one touch to destroy the prison bolts. It was believed that the flower can tear gold and silver, iron and copper into small pieces. The thieves, who found the touchy, made an incision in the palm of their hands, inserted grass into it, and then healed the wound. From the touch of such a hand, supposedly, the locks fell from the doors.

People believed that everyone who just wore this plant in their pockets was reliably protected from any bullet. This grass, thrown into the forge of the enemy, deprived him of the ability to forge iron. But not every touchy possessed magical properties, but only that which was extracted with observance of special rituals.

It was necessary to find a hollow in which the woodpecker turned the nest, and at the same time there were already nestlings in it. Then it was necessary to wait for the mother bird to fly away, and then close the nest tightly. Having seen that the nest is closed, the bird will certainly bring the stalk of the touchy. From his light touch, the hollow will open. At that moment, the observing person should have screamed loudly so that the frightened bird dropped the grass.

Breeding in the Garden

Impatricular glandular is the largest plant of its kind. It is rarely planted in rural front gardens, as it gives abundant self-seeding, often "escapes" over the fence and forms solid thickets of juicy stems. And gardeners and owners of country houses love balsam. They look great in the curb, rabatkah, or as the central element of the flower bed.

Shortcut can become a perennial plant. If you grew it in the garden or on the balcony, cut off the stalk and in winter grow a flower in the room. The only drawback of this procedure is the loss of leaves under insufficient illumination.

It is best to plant the touchy in the garden, in a well-ventilated, rather sunny place with organic soil rich in soil. Gardeners need to know that touchy things carry a lot of nitrogen out of it, and that's why they grow quite quickly. On scanty soils, they almost never reach their maximum size. Especially do not like balsam thickening: the plants become undersized, and flowering ends very quickly.

In medicine, this species is not used. Gardener should be careful when working with this plant. The point is that the touch of iron is poisonous. And one more tip. Do not plant this plant if the family has small children.
