How to warm a loggia to make it a living room?

Loggia is an additional area, which is often used not entirely rationally. Many families lack a living space, while arranging a warehouse for unnecessary things on the loggia. And is it not better to dismantle the rubble and conduct a warming of the loggia, turning it into an additional room or adding it to a room or kitchen?

But before asking yourself how to insulate a loggia, you should find out that such a reorganization is a re-planning, so some jobs require permission. For example, in sleeping areas to obtain permission to glaze the loggia, as a rule, is not difficult. But if the house is located in the central or historic area of the city, then there may be problems.

It is equally difficult to obtain permission to combine the loggia with the room. The fact is that it is strictly forbidden to carry a central heating radiator to the area of a loggia. Therefore, in most cases, it is possible to obtain permission to partially combine the premises, provided they are separated by sliding doors.

Thinking about how to insulate the loggia, it is necessary to understand that this process includes a whole range of works. Among them are glazing of the loggia, waterproofing works, warming of walls, floor and ceiling.

The first step in solving the problem of how to insulate a loggia is usually the installation of windows or glazing. For insulation it is necessary to select a qualitative profile and install double glazed windows, since single ones can not provide sufficient thermal insulation.

Now we need to decide what to insulate the loggia, namely, what materials to use for thermal insulation of walls, ceiling and floor? I must say that now in stores a large selection of insulation materials. This is traditionally applied mineral wool, and expanded polystyrene, and modern insulation with foil layer - isofol, penofol, etc.

When choosing materials, one should take into account not only their cost, but also their inherent properties. For example, if mineral wool is chosen, it will be necessary to make an additional vapor barrier, otherwise the insulation will soon get wet and cease to fulfill its function. If you choose a foil material, then it is laid with a shiny layer upwards, and the joints are closed with a special adhesive tape.

In building journals and in the network there are many tips on how to properly insulate the loggia. However, for some reason, not all materials emphasize the importance of waterproofing works. Before laying the heater, it is extremely important to carefully process all assembly seams, through which moisture can penetrate. To do this, use a mounting foam and a special sealant for facade work.

At the stage of preparatory work, one should also think about holding a loggia of electricity. If you plan to install some heating appliances on the loggia, then it is necessary to supply the cable directly from the shield. If the heater is not planned to install, then the cable can be pulled from the nearest outlet.

The final stage of warming the walls of the loggia is the selection of the facing material. For this purpose, plastic padding or MDF panels are often used. Fans of traditional materials can choose the usual wooden lining. However, if you plan to combine a loggia with a room, then it makes sense to cover the walls with moisture-resistant plasterboard, and then use that finishing material that was used to decorate the walls of the room.

The answer to the question of how to insulate a loggia will not be complete unless you touch the problem of the device of sex. On loggias it is not recommended to make a concrete screed, as this will noticeably increase the load on the base plate. It is better to use a wooden screed, especially since there are floor heating systems that can be laid directly on wooden logs without pouring concrete.

Qualitively insulated loggia will allow a little increase in the living area of the premises. On such a loggia you can arrange a small winter garden or mini-cabinet, that is, use additional meters at your discretion.
