How to tie knots on a rope? The most reliable nodes

Nodes and how to tie them up - it would seem that in this difficult? After all, we encounter them in everyday life at every step and tie them up, without even thinking. From early childhood we were taught to tie laces, girls - ribbons and bows, then men learn to tie a tie. And then - in the home, on fishing, on vacation, hunting, in sports or maritime affairs - anyway, but the nodes are everywhere. We'll figure out how to tie the knots on the rope correctly and which of them turn out to be the strongest.

What are nodes

Knots have existed for a long time, yet our distant ancestors used them to create the first tools, clothes, food: hunting and fishing. In fact, a knot is a certain way of weaving ropes, lines, strings, threads, etc., a way to connect them together or tie to anything by creating a loop.

That is, the nodes have a very long and rather rich history of both application and development. After all, in every business, craft, direction, where they were used, they came up with their own kinds, the most comfortable, strong or beautiful, depending on the priorities. Such a connection can be woven from a different number of ropes, their different lengths, diameters. They differ in the spheres of application.

What are the

The nodes can be sea, tourist, mountaineering, hunting or fishing - this is a difference in the field of their application. For example, there are only about seven hundred sea knots!

For each species, certain requirements apply. For example, tourist, in addition to being strong and simple: they are simply to be remembered, easy to tie, do not crawl under the load, do not tighten tightly, if this is not necessary.

Of course, knowing how to tie knots on a rope of all kinds is hardly possible, and it is not necessary. This is not available to any person on the planet. It is easy enough to understand how to tie knots on a rope tightly and so that they look presentable at the same time.

Of course, once a good, strong connection or the desired loop does not work. You need to learn how to tie a strong knot on a rope, practicing, and not just in theory. Although it is also necessary to know the theoretical basis. For example, how to tie a knot at the end of a rope: fold the loose edges into a loop, leaving the tail of that length, how big the knot is needed, thread it, tighten it. The knot at the end of the rope is ready!

What determines the fortress of a node

How to tie knots on rope so that they are strong? The answer to this question is simple: first, you need to be able to knit them, no matter how trite it may sound. And secondly, the rope itself for this must be strong enough, otherwise what skills knitting knots you do not have, and the sense from this will be small.

Any rope, cord or rope and everything from which knots knit, has its own characteristic of strength. Moreover, if a rope is used, for example, to tie a tent to a peg or even a boat to a fishing dock, hardly anyone seriously ponders about the level of its strength. But in some areas of application of knots such carelessness is inexcusable, for example, in mountaineering.

It is worth considering one fact: any node somehow makes the rope less durable, for example:

  • Node-eight weakens by a quarter;
  • Bulls - a third;
  • Weaving - by 35%.

All other knots make rope less durable about the same. Also for the level of strength and rope, and the node should consider the following:

  • If it is wet, then its strength is reduced by 10%;
  • If used for strong frosts (up to 30 degrees), then it becomes less strong by a third;
  • Half strength lost rope dirty, old, a lot of time in the sun, with a damaged braid.

Applications

Nodes are found even in everyday life at every step, and they can be both functional and simply decorative. For example, recently, bracelets or necklaces made of bundles, laces and thin ropes, knotted with beautiful knots, became very popular.

They are also used to tie two ropes of the same thickness. In tourism, instead of ropes, other materials having different thicknesses can be used. With the help of a knot you can tie a variety of loops: tightening, climbing, fast-breaking (it's a bow), a bouillon or those that are very difficult to untie. Keep in mind that most knots lead to rubbing the ropes, and also have the property of unleashing by themselves.

Knot

Probably the best known of all knots. You can not not be able to tie it, but you heard about it for sure. What is he like and how to tie a sea knot on a rope?

First of all, it should be said that there are several sea knots, and each of them has its own name: running simple, reef, buglin, silk, scaffold. All of them are tightening loops, by means of which they tied the ship to the pier. Their peculiarity is a certain way of knitting and tightening the rope, at which it stretches, making the knot reliable. And when the rope is loosened, it is easy to untie the loop.

Most often use a bouillon or a chimney knot. In order to learn how to tie it, there is nothing complicated, but such skill can be useful at any moment. Tie it in the following way:

  • A small loop is made, a piece of rope is left in the reserve as long as the knot is needed;
  • This end is passed through a loop, as when tying a simple knot;
  • Turns around the free end of the rope, goes to the small one and tightens.

To bind two ropes

It happens that it is necessary to connect two or even more ropes, and also add knots on already tied ropes. For these purposes, there are special loops. So, how to tie a knot on a rope tied with a Flemish loop or a counter eight that is one of the oldest, strongest and strongest:

  • Make a figure eight of its free edge on the end of an unconnected rope;
  • The remaining end of the knot repeats bends and passes through them, while tightening the loop.

This knot practically does not weaken the strength of the rope, while it is easy to untie if necessary.

Non-detachable node

Sometimes it is necessary to tie a loop that does not untie under any circumstances. As a rule, these are tightening knots. One of those is considered to be weaving. So, how to tie a strong knot on a rope that does not exactly untie at the most inopportune moment? First of all, it is necessary to understand that it is a combination of two knots that are tied around the base with running ends:

  • Put the two ropes ends facing each other;
  • At the one end, run a simple node;
  • End another pass through made on the first loop, make a turn around its base;
  • Tie the second rope with the same simple knot;
  • Shift both loops towards each other until they come together;
  • Tighten the assembly properly.

This is a very strong knot, for all its seeming simplicity when stretched, it becomes so strong that it seems unlikely to untie it.

Beautiful knot

Of course, not all hinges and nodules serve exclusively for functional purposes, they are also used to create ornaments: bracelets, necklaces. And the knots are simply tied for luck, used in the technique of macrame, lace and not only.

And it is here that knowledge of how to tie a beautiful knot on a rope is useful. But there are a lot of such knots, so let's talk about a pair of the most easily executable and attractive ones.

Everyone remembers and knows how to weave a pigtail. So, if you twist one or more ropes in this way, you get a beautifully tied braid from knots.

Another popular pattern is a woven crown or, using the terminology of macrame technique, cobra. Used to create textile bracelets, necklaces, baubles, charms and laces for an umbrella or leash for a dog. It is made of four ropes as follows:

  • Connect the ends of the ropes to each other;
  • Unfold the ends to itself;
  • Tie a knot-crown, making a loop from each rope and stretching into it the end that lies behind it;
  • Tighten and continue to knit the knots to the desired length.

The cord "braided crown" is ready! Now you can close its tips with special caps with a clasp, which are purchased in a store with accessories for jewelry, and used as a bracelet or necklace.
