How to Take a Concert?

Everyone who tried to shoot in a nightclub or at a concert, firmly know the two main problems.

1. Difficulties with focusing on the subject of photography. Dark object on a dark background.

2. Take pictures at very long exposures. In a club or at a concert is usually dark.

Both these difficulties, both together and separately, can lead to the fact that the subject of photography becomes a smeared spot. Whatever happens, one must have excellent knowledge of photography techniques and a firm hand.

First of all, do not be afraid to raise the ISO value. In the past, when there was only a film in the hands of photographers, raising this important parameter caused some difficulties. It was necessary to buy in advance a film of the necessary sensitivity. Now this is done very simply, within a few seconds. But with the increase of this parameter, you should be a little neat. Increasing the sensitivity inevitably leads to the appearance of digital noise in the photograph. The ISO value should be increased gradually, depending on the light conditions.

ISO is the first thing you can do. The first and the simplest. If you approach more seriously, for high-quality photography in the dark, it will be very useful to have a high-aperture optics. The presence of an optical stabilizer on these lenses will also be useful. All this will allow you to reduce the exposure by 5-6 steps. This is enough to get a high-quality photo.

But what if the photographer does not have modern technical achievements in the form of expensive lenses. Nothing remains, except how to improvise. Iso you screwed, then carefully study the situation. Catch the moments when the subject of the shooting will be lit, and at that moment shoot. If the song is slow, the actors on the stage are less active. This again to your advantage. If all this is not there is nothing left but to use the flash. From my own experience I will say that the use of the flash completely kills all the colors that could be obtained in the photograph. Often a blurry but bright and colorful photo will look much more interesting than a sharp but flat photograph.

If you have a tripod or a monopod, this is very good. If there is nothing to worry about. If you look around, you can probably find some kind of an emphasis, where you could fix the camera. In extreme cases, you can use your friend's shoulder. The main thing is that he stood steadily on his feet.

Using these small tips, your photos from concerts should be much better.

I wish you good pictures.
