How to remove the Daemon Tools virtual disk

Modern information technology can not be imagined without virtualization. The fashion to create electronic digital copies has reached a maximum: they digitize everything from natural phenomena to living creatures. Without attention, the components of the computer themselves did not remain: a virtual disk, a virtual audio cable - all this has long become commonplace and familiar. Many in everyday work are faced even with a virtual computer, implemented by VMware applications, Virtual Box, etc.

Despite this, for the bulk of users the most popular programs are CD-ROM drive emulators. Previously, there were quite a few: Virtual CD, CD Emulator from Paragon, Virtual Drive, Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools. Currently, it can be argued that the invisible opposition won the application for emulating Daemon Tools (DT). But all good has the opposite side, so it is quite clear that the users-beginners began to have a question "how to disable the virtual disk."

When installing DT, it creates a virtual drive in the operating system and assigns a letter to it. Further all is simple: through the interface of the program we insert an image of a disk in the virtual drive and we work with an image, as with an ordinary compact. It seems that everything is clear. But very often beginners in ignorance create in the system unnecessary virtual drives and begin to look for an answer, how to delete the virtual disk. This does not affect the performance, but if the hard drive itself is divided into several logical partitions, a hardware drive is installed, and here a few more virtual ones are added - it's just right to get lost.

There are several ways to solve this problem. We'll look at them, and answer the question "how to remove the virtual disk". The easiest way is to use the tools of the program that created such a disk. In our case this is DT.

We press the "Start" button and look in the Daemon Tools list. Run the application. The main program window appears, divided into two: the image directory at the top, and the virtual drives created at the bottom. Click on the extra, click the right mouse button. How to delete a virtual disk here? Very simple! In the appeared menu there is an option "Delete drive". That's all.

The second option is different in selecting a menu item. Follow the "Options". In the "Drive letter" drop-down list, select "Not installed".

The third option that helps to understand how to remove a virtual disk in Daemon Tools. Select by clicking the left mouse button and click on the icon with the image of the drive and the red cross (a prompt appears - "Remove the virtual drive"). Repeat actions for all unnecessary devices. You can remove everything. In the future, adding them is just as easy.

If for some reason you can not use the tools of the program, you can remove the virtual disk and the tools of the Windows system. Right-click the properties of the My Computer icon on the desktop. In its absence, we follow in the "Start" - "My Computer" - "Properties". Next, on the left, select the link in the "Device Manager". Open the list of drives and select the "Properties - Disconnect" on the virtual drive (do not confuse it with a physical device). At any time, everything can be returned by clicking "Enable".

Similar option:

We select the properties "My computer" and go to "Management". Here in memory devices we are looking for the ability to manage disks. Call the menu (right button) of the virtual drive and follow the "properties". Next, the "Driver" tab and the "Disconnect" button. It's that simple.

As has been repeatedly pointed out, with these disconnection methods, you can (if necessary) very quickly return everything back. But if you completely uninstall from the DT operating system, the virtual disk will disappear forever (before reinstalling the program).
