How to make a solar system layout?

How to make a model of the solar system with your own hands ?

Before we begin to make planets, we need to determine the basis of the design. You can cut a large circle of thick cardboard, or you can use a plastic children's hoop. They come in several sizes, the more you choose, the more spectacular will be the finished model of the solar system.

Now let's deal with the planets. We will make them from papier-mache.

We need:

- old newspapers;

- paste;

- Art primer;

- paints;

- Balloons;

- small balls.

Balls will be the basis of small planets and satellites, they must be wrapped with food wrap or placed inside a plastic bag and tied. For large planets we will inflate balloons.

We tear off small pieces from the newspaper, dunk them in a paste and stick them on a substrate in three or four layers. We put the balls aside so that they dry out, in a day we add two or three more layers of newspapers. We dry our planets again. We extract the basis. To do this, in large planets pierce the balls, small cut with a clerical knife, draw the balls and again glue together with newspapers and paste.

Now the planets need to be covered with a primer and painted. Entrust this task to children, they will be very happy and proud, making a model of the solar system with their own hands. Do not forget that Saturn and Jupiter need to make rings. To do this, cut out a circle of cardboard, in the center make a hole equal to the circumference of the paper balls, and glue to the planets.

How to make a paste?

Recipe 1. Pour into a bowl three tablespoons of flour, add a small amount of cool water and mix. The consistency of the mixture should be similar to thick sour cream. A glass of water in a small saucepan is brought to a boil, pour the mixture into it and stir until the mass thickens. Cool the paste.

Recipe 2. Soak two teaspoons of starch in a glass of cold water for an hour, then pour into a saucepan and heat it over a small fire. The paste must become viscous and transparent. We cool it before use.

Also as a paste can be used wallpaper paste or diluted with water PVA glue.

Model of the solar system. Assembling the product

To assemble the layout, we need a black fabric, from which we will sew a cover-base. Fold it in half, face down, attach the children's hoop on top, draw, making allowances for the seam. We will stretch the cover, inserting a zipper as a zipper. Now let's make orbits to our planets. They can be stitched with a curly suture, made from a ribbon or simply painted with a contoured paint. Now we take Velcro Velcro, cut it into pieces of the right size, approximately 2 * 3 centimeters, one side is glued to the planets, the second - we impart to the cover. The model of the solar system is ready.
