How to make a ladder with your own hands.

Before you decide exactly how to make wooden stairs with your own hands or not, you need to decide. Is it profitable for you to do this. If the future staircase is supposed to be on several floors, then it is best to provide assembly and fabrication of the components for the staircase to professional teams, since if the error is only a few centimeters, the entire ladder march will have to be altered. Well, if you need a ladder to move everything between one floor, then this design can be made manually. In order for the ladder to be made correctly, it is necessary to strictly follow the plan below.

Step 1: Calculations of the heights and width of the steps of the future ladder.

The first step in making a staircase for a house and a terrace is that. That you need to find out the height of the future staircase. To do this, fix the straight board at the highest point of the terrace. Thus, you determine the place from where the ladder will start, and also the overall height of the future structure. Then you should check the level with the horizontal axis of the board fixing. Wooden staircases with their own hands are most often made in practice with a total height of the riser of 14-17 cm and a universal width of one step - 34-37 cm.

Also, it should be noted that the spiral staircase with their own hands is made with an average riser height of at least 12 cm. Moreover, the very edge of the step should be kept in order of 20-40 mm. It is worth noting that the higher the riser, the higher your step will be, and vice versa. So the width of the steps depends not only on the height. But also on the size of the riser.

If you are going to make a ladder for a particularly high terrace, then it makes sense to make a small preparatory pad for the future design. In general, the ladder with its own hands is limited to approximately 14-15 steps, which allows you to reduce the height of each step and make the right platform for the future construction. So the platform, like every step, affects the overall appearance and massiveness of the staircase. Try to observe the above dimensions.

Step 2: Preparing the universal Kosoura.

Before you begin the placement of steps, you need to decide how the new Kosovar will join the terrace. It should be said that it must be attached directly to the load-bearing beam of the terrace or, alternatively, to the entire structure under the platform. In this case, the situation arises that the last step is the surface of the terrace. In order to avoid such an error, you can make a small curve, with which help to mark out the kosour will not cause any difficulties.

After that, the steps for the future ladder are cut to size using a circular saw. The most important thing is to try not to go beyond the marked lines, and if you can not cut a piece with a circular saw, then you can finish the lengths of the step details with a hand saw. Try not to save on the number of oblique shoes, as they provide the necessary rigidity and reliability to your wooden staircase. In addition, try not to allow strong deflections of the steps, as this can lead to loosening of the entire supporting structure of the ladder.

Step 3: Installation of steps and struts on the stairs.

After you have cut the required number of steps and risers, pay special attention to the fact that the cut out steps are sized taking into account the thickness of all risers. Also, do not forget to take into account during the installation a small overhang of the step above the riser, which varies within 2-4 cm. After mounting all the risers on the future ladder, fix the manufactured steps with screws. And you can finish the installation of all steps by moving to the installation of small balusters and a long handrail. These parts are required to ensure a confident and safe descent or ascent of a person on the stairs. A staircase made by your own hands is ready!
