How to knit two-color patterns with knitting needles: patterns and description

Over time, almost all masters have small balls of yarn from finished products. As a rule, they are all different colors and compositions, throw them pity, but the whole product is not enough. It is these multi-colored glomeruli that can be used for multi-colored knitting, for example, a lazy jacquard made in technique. Choose yarn and knitting needles

Knit bicolour patterns can be made from any yarn, either from thick woolen or from thin cotton. Two threads do not have to be the same brand and composition, but the thickness should be approximately the same. If you are not sure how the knitted fabric will behave later, tie the sample, wash and dry it. So it becomes clear whether one of the threads does not shed, and also whether the cloth will stretch or, conversely, will not shrink.

To link two-color patterns with knitting needles (schemes and descriptions will be given later), choose the spokes that fit in size to the yarn. If you need a very dense non-blowing product, then you can take the needles for size smaller, if you want a looser cloth, then take the tool for a larger size, only then do not knit too loose. Otherwise, the broaches may be visible on the front.

Lazy Jacquard

Two-color knitting can be done with a lazy jacquard. This does not mean that you do not need to work hard at work, simply, unlike a conventional jacquard, a lazy little is easier to perform, there are no long broaches in the work, and the circuit is cyclical.

Such patterns are available to beginner needlewomen, since it is not necessary to control the tension density of broaches, to properly cross them, and also to calculate loops for a large pattern to fit into the product.

The yarn changes every two rows, that is, first the front and back rows are knitted with a thread of the same color, the next two are of the same color, and so on.

Another feature of the lazy jacquard (two-color knitting) - is that some loops, based on the scheme, are removed on the right knitting needle not tied. It is important here, where the working thread remains - behind the working cloth or behind it. As a rule, in the front rows yarn remains behind the work, and in the purl strings - before it.

The effect of woven cloth

Is it possible to create an imitation of a woven fabric by knitting with knitting needles? Two-colored patterns (with a description of their schemes you can see in our review) can look like a fabric, for example, tweed or, as in this case, a cloth with a relief pattern. This knitting is rather dense and inelastic, consider this when choosing a model. Such a binding is suitable for products that should hold a shape well, for example, a knitted jacket or a skirt over a figure.

In order to link the sample, you need to type an even number of loops, plus two edge and plus two for symmetry of the pattern. Enter, for example, 12 loops.

• Let's start the work of blue yarn. The first and second rows are tied with the facial smoothness.
• In the third row we go to the orange thread and knit in this way: the first loop is the front one, then the next four are disguised on the right knitting needle unbroken, and the thread is left in front of the cloth, the next four we knit with the facial ones, the next one loops change without tying, thread, as before , Before the canvas.
• In the fourth we go back to blue yarn. We bind the first four loops back, the next 4 shoots on the right knitting needle, the yarn in front of the cloth, the next two loops of the wrong side.

This is a very simple and beautiful pattern. "Honeycomb" bicolour knitting needles (schemes and description of the work will be further on) even for beginner needlewomen. To work, you need two types of yarn of contrasting colors.

For the sample, dial an odd number of loops.

• The first row begins with the yarn of the primary color. We make the cape, the next loop is removed to the right knitting needle, then one is the wrong one. We continue the alternation to the end.
• In the second row, we change the yarn to a contrasting color and knit the purl, then remove the napkin from the previous row on the right knitting needle, leaving the yarn in front of the working cloth. So we turn to edgeband.
• The third row is knitted with a thread of the first color. We make a cape, we remove one eyelet on the right needle, the next two loops we will tie together the facial.
• In the fourth, we change the thread and start with two facial strings, and the next one is removed to the right knitting needle. We alternate to the end of the series.
• In the fifth row, we again change the thread, we make the cape, we remove the loop, the next two we knit together the purl.

Jacquard

The most famous two-color patterns with knitting needles, schemes and descriptions to which can be found in any edition of needlework, are Norwegian. These are the same snowflakes, Christmas trees and deer, which are adorned with winter sweaters, hats and scarves. They are rarely made of three or more colors, they are usually knit from a yarn of two contrasting colors.

The most important thing in this knitting is to carefully follow the pattern, each cell of which is equal to one eyelet of the fabric. It's better to begin this voluminous work if you already have experience in knitting. Here you need to be extremely careful and be able to correctly make all the calculations, so that the drawing from the circuit is ideally "fitted" into the future product.

All the strands of threads pass from the wrong side, and on the front side a beautiful pattern is created from the loops contrasting with the background color. Two-color knitting in jacquard patterns looks very nice and stylish.

Two-color elastic band

Another original way to work with two kinds of colored yarn is a color rubber band. Two-color patterns with knitting needles (schemes and description of rubber bands of this kind, by the way, are very diverse) begin with a set of odd number of loops in one color. Further, the same thread is knitted with 1 LP, a cape, and one loop is removed.

• In the second row, a thread of another color is made with a cape, one is removed, the next two together.
• The third row starts to knit from the opposite end of the knitting needle (for this knitting, take straight non-circular knitting needles). Tie the two together, make a crochet, take one off.
• In the fourth row, go to another yarn and make a napkin, one remove, two together purl.
• In the fifth row, change the thread and the end of the knitting needle again. Two together, a cape, one to take off.

Repeat from the second row.

Other types of bicolour patterns

What other two-color patterns are there? In fact, there is no limit to imagination. Very beautiful and gently look associated two-color openwork patterns with knitting needles (the diagrams with the description can be found in any knitting magazine). It can be openwork waves or zigzags in the Missoni style. This knitting looks very beautiful in the canvas, bound from mohair yarn. You can apply these patterns to perform a light stole or scarf, as well as a summer cardigan or waistcoat.

Knitting in a circle

Knitting (two-color patterns in this case) can be done in a circle. So the product is obtained without seams, which is very convenient, for example, for knitting hats or sweaters with a sleeve raglan. Jacquard can also be knit on circular knitting needles, but for this you need to look a little differently at the scheme. Read it only in one direction - from right to left.

If you have a lazy jacquard before you, then all the broaches should be on the wrong side.

What to connect?

Knitted two-color patterns with knitting needles, the schemes and description of which were higher, can be applied to almost any product, especially if it requires a tight knit. It can be a warm winter set of a hat and scarf, a sweater with deer or mittens with snowflakes. Jacquard looks great on children's things: overalls, jumpers, jackets. Lazy jacquards are often used when working with large warm things, such as coats or jackets. The products are very dense, they perfectly hold the shape and do not deform after washing.
