How to deal with malicious programs (malware)

The number of Internet users is growing literally every day. Now the network can do almost anything - order food, medicine, buy things, watch a movie and much more. Attackers use computer illiteracy of users and infect computers with malicious programs. Many companies specialize in cleaning computers from viruses, but this is quite an expensive procedure, so it will not be superfluous to be able to get rid of the undesirable consequences of visiting the Internet yourself. The best free antivirus programs, as well as many others, can be downloaded on the site free-software.com.ua without intrusive advertising and other inconveniences.

First of all, you need to prepare a Live CD. This is a bootable CD-ROM on which the Linux system is installed and any of the anti-virus programs. You can buy a ready-made solution, which will include additional options - check drives for errors, restore the registry and other utilities. The principle of operation of such disks is quite simple: you need to insert it into the drive, reboot the computer, and, using the BIOS, boot from the disk. This allows you to remove programs that run automatically with the operating system and block antivirus programs. If there is no drive in the computer, you can burn the system image to a USB flash drive ("USB flash drive"). There are many such offers on the Internet, they are free of charge and often contain instructions for recording and use. But it is worth remembering that such a drive can no longer be used to store other data - in the process of creating an image the USB flash drive will become write-protected, and it can be used for other purposes only after full erasure of data on the device.

Some modern computers have a Secure Boot security system installed. This is a utility preinstalled by the manufacturer, protecting from the fact that malicious programs on the drive are started with the system. On the one hand, this is a useful feature that protects the computers of those users who do not remove the USB flash drive on reboot. But it also prevents the system from working with the Live CD. Each manufacturer has its own algorithm for disabling this utility, so there is no single instruction and it is necessary to find recommendations on the Internet independently.

In general, the process of cleaning your computer from malicious programs is fairly simple and does not raise questions even for inexperienced users - everything happens in an automatic mode. After the work is completed, a message will appear, you will need to restart the computer and in the BIOS select the boot from the hard disk.

Despite the simplicity of these operations, it is still worthwhile to give preference to preventive measures against infection - to update antivirus programs in a timely manner, periodically run cleaning, do not visit questionable sites and check each flash drive before use.
