  • About two kilograms of gooseberries and sugar;

To prepare it will take a lot of time and, of course, patience, but the resulting result will pay for all your efforts. The berries of gooseberry emerald in amber syrup are indescribable pride of any housewife and also a wonderful treat.

Ingredients:

  • Taut and large gooseberry, about one kilogram;
  • One and a half kilos of sugar;
  • Water, about two glasses;
  • Cherry leaves - 15 pieces.

To begin with, it is necessary to select dense and tight berries of large gooseberries. Then rinse them in a little warm water and cut off the tails on both sides. With the tip of a sharp knife, we cut each gooseberry berry and remove all the seeds from it. The easiest way to do this is with the help of hairdresser's pins. Then again wash the gooseberry.

Then select the fresh cherry leaves, so that they are not damaged, and wash them under a stream of warm water. In a saucepan of the appropriate size, carefully pour out the berries and fresh cherry leaves. Then boil the water to fill the berries and fill the gooseberry. Leave everything for about six hours. When the gooseberries cool down, cover the pan with paper.

Six hours later, in the basin, which will be cooked jam, fall asleep sugar and pour water into it from under berries. Heat on a small fire until the sugar dissolves. Then gently fall asleep in it berries without cherry leaves and mix. Cook for about ten minutes and add cherry leaves, again cook about five minutes before the transparency of the berries. If the gooseberry turned too hard, then you can leave the jam after cooking for about five hours and then cook again for ten minutes. This jam can be cooked and without cherry leaves, but they add a special flavor and a pinkish hint of jam.

We put the prepared jam into sterilized jars and put it in a cool place.
