How to connect to the Internet through the phone yourself

It is unlikely that anyone will dispute the fact that on the vastness of the global network you can find almost any information. Especially if you know where to look. But in this case it may seem that it is quite realistic to manage only one search engine - for example, Google or Yandex. Alas, this is not entirely true.

Let's conduct a small experiment together - we will type in the search query "how to connect to the Internet through the phone". In response, more than 4 million pages are offered with this topic. An impressive figure! However, even on the 10th page in the search engine's response to the question of how to connect to the Internet through the phone, you can not get. There are instructions for making a connection with the provider via a mobile phone, and wired home, those with disks and buttons are undeservedly forgotten. One of the ways to solve the problem of finding information is to change the search engine. We will do otherwise, and in this article we will give an answer to the question of how to connect to the Internet through the phone. And we will consider wired devices as more specific.

Initially, the main task of the phone was to provide voice communication. The equipment of telephone exchanges, in accordance with the dialed numbers, temporarily connected the subscribers with a communication line. Simple and effective.

But several decades ago the cost of computing began to decline rapidly. Many computer owners began to think about how to connect to the Internet. The choice was not great - the phone. It is interesting that since that time little has changed - the principle of solving the problem has remained the same. So, how to connect to the Internet through the phone?

There are only two ways of this connection: classic Dial-Up and more modern ADSL technology. In both cases, you first need to find a company that provides access services to the global network through a telephone line and, having concluded a contract, become their subscriber.

Dial-Up technology provides speed on good lines with digital PBXs of no more than 7 kbps (56 kbps). To "run" the Internet through your home phone, in addition to the contract, you need to connect the wire that goes to the device to the modem. In most laptops it's built-in. The connector resembles Ethernet, but with fewer contacts.

In Windows 7, start the "Network Management Center" (right-click on the monitor icon in the lower right corner). Open "Create a new connection". Further all is simple: connection to the Internet - switched. Specify the number to be dialed and the password / login - these data are provided by the provider. Note that the modem in the system must be defined (put the driver). Usually, in addition to the cost of the service, the subscriber pays for every minute of connection at the standard tariffs of the telephone company. Now, due to the low speed of Dial-Up access has lost its relevance. Its advantage is a theoretical opportunity to use the services of very remote providers.

Asymmetric broadband ADSL technology is quite a competitive solution, providing speeds up to 24 Mbps. You need a special modem and a box-splitter (it allows you to work simultaneously on the phone and the Internet). A provider working with ADSL, when registering a subscriber, puts his phone number in his user database. To service the PBX number should be installed special expensive equipment (therefore, villagers, alas, are often deprived of the opportunity to work with ADSL).

In the modem, you need to enter the provider settings - VCI and VPI numbers. Here you can specify the password and login (registered for the router) registered during registration. The connection setup is similar to Dial-Up - only specify "High-speed, requesting password".
