How to connect a laptop to a computer with a network cable

The cost of computers is constantly decreasing. If earlier, to buy accessories, you had to negotiate your desire on the family council, given the available budget, now you can increase the amount of memory or replace the video card with a more productive model by "accidentally" going into the electronics store "just to see" what technical innovations have appeared.

The fact that every second family has a home personal computer does not surprise anyone. Usually, with its help, children-schoolchildren do homework and play computer games, and also wired Internet is connected to it. A large diagonal of the monitor screen is one of the undeniable advantages. The disadvantage of a stationary computer system is no less obvious - it is cumbersome. In addition, that it is impossible to take along on the road, it also requires a place in the room for a special table.

In parallel with personal computers there were always their mobile counterparts - laptops, compact and neat. But only the entrepreneurs and wealthy people could afford to buy a laptop. Recently, everything has changed: over the past few years, the price has fallen several times, so often in homes you can find both a computer and a laptop. At the same time, the question "how to connect a laptop to a computer" became especially topical. Moreover, this possibility is provided for by the developers. Connecting a laptop to a computer allows you to quickly and easily rewrite files, play multiplayer games without a global network, organize access to the Internet from two computers simultaneously and much more.

There are two main ways to connect a laptop to a computer: wired and wireless. Connecting using a network cable requires the presence of Ethernet cards in the laptop and computer, they are worth a penny, and only a lazy manufacturer does not integrate them into their products. In modern models, the corresponding connectors look like telephone, but slightly larger. To understand how to connect a laptop to a computer, there is no need to read complex instructions, because in the Windows operating systems that have received the most distribution, everything is simplified as much as possible.

How to connect a laptop to a computer? It is necessary to perform certain actions:

- purchase at the nearest computer store a network wire (twisted pair) of the required length with connectors installed at both ends. For the 100 Megabit standard, the length can be up to 100 m inclusive;

- install the driver for each network card;

- Connect the appropriate connectors to the mains lead.

To determine how to connect a laptop to a computer, you need to know for which specific purposes the connection is made. In this example, consider a popular version with a home laptop and a computer. As on the first, and on the second, it is necessary to open access to folders and files. To do this, on the desired folder (you can "rassharit" immediately the entire disk), we press the right mouse button and in the options menu we allow general access. For Vista and Win 7, you will need to additionally confirm the folders and work with them in the Network and Sharing Center ("Advanced Settings" section). In the properties of the computer, change the name of the workgroup so that it is the same on both devices - this will simplify the scan. In the "network adapters" menu of the device manager we set a full duplex of 100 Megabit, this will increase the reliability when connecting different standards (for example, 100 Mbit and 1 Gbit). A reboot may be required. After the operating systems are loaded, you need to wait about 20 seconds - during this time the adapters will be automatically configured and the network is configured. Next, open "My Computer" and click "Network" (Network Neighborhood). If everything is correct, then the available resources of both computers will be displayed. Important: sometimes anti-viruses (NOD32) block the display for security reasons, in this case, you must first configure them.
