Drill Burs for Piles in Low-Rise Construction

In recent years, screw piles have often been used to build a foundation in low-rise buildings . Although not so long ago screw piles were used only in the construction of bridges, power lines and in railway construction.

The screw pile is a steel pipe, in the lower part of which there is a spiral blade with a sharpened tip. Thanks to this device, the pile is easily screwed into the ground, and in the ground it is firmly held by the blades, preventing the pile from climbing out. This is especially true for light houses. It is cast casters and, more precisely, cast tips for piles, have a number of advantages over welded ones.

The popularity of the foundation on the basis of screw piles is due to some advantages:

- Ability to use on difficult ground. Initially, screw piles were developed for the construction of objects in swampy and frozen soils. They had to endure both high humidity and permafrost, have a high load-bearing capacity, withstand compressive loads and resist tufts from the ground. At the same time, such a foundation is convenient for construction on slopes, where there are large differences in altitude.

- Lightness and high speed of installation. Installation of piles is possible in any hard-to-reach places, as for this purpose rather compact equipment is used. If necessary, the piles can be easily dismantled or exchanged.

- Economical. Often economic profitability is the main criterion of choice. The total cost of the foundation on screw piles will be much cheaper than, for example, tape.

There are three types of screw piles: welded, cast borers and combined, they differ from each other in structure and characteristics.

The welded screw pile is a pipe, the end of which is made in the form of a pointed cone, on which the blades are welded. Blades and a cone are made by a method of plasma cutting, further the product is processed by an anticorrosive structure.

Molded tips for screw piles (otherwise - borax) consist of a metal pipe and a screw tip. Such piles are made by molding into special shapes. Thanks to this method, the cast pile is much stronger and more reliable than the welded pile. The most running size is 108mm, so this kind of piles are made only of this size, which is very convenient. The cast pile is more durable than other types.

Proceeding from the foregoing, it can be concluded that cast screw piles for low-rise construction are more reliable and better than welded, so their use in this case will be more appropriate.
