Horror about teenagers - the countdown of dead bodies

Horror about teenagers is most often removed in the subgenre of slasher. The paintings shot in this vein are called the films of dead teenagers, or the dead body counters. A characteristic feature of slasher films is the compulsory presence of a maniac psychopath (sometimes appearing exclusively in a mask), who inexorably pursues and mercilessly kills the victim-teenagers (the company that drove in the wrong place) sometimes for one day.

Pattern of characters and plot development

Critics distinguish a certain similarity in the structure that horror films about teenagers have. Victims in such projects are stereotyped - this is an unusually attractive youth, which is located at an impressive distance from civilization, commits piquant actions or consumes alcohol, less often - drugs. The first to traditionally die the sexiest and at the same time most stupid heroes, the second kill botany-know-it or necessarily present in the company of a virgin / tsu. However, American horrors about adolescents sometimes regard innocence as the most powerful artifact-amulet, and it is to this hero-righteous man who manages not only to survive, but also to overcome the maniac, but not completely eliminate the problem. Traditional attempts to escape to the car end in failure, as the car does not start, or the keys remain in the house, or they fall out and roll under the car. Many experts call Hitchcock's Psycho the ancestor of the slasher genre, but the first true slasher picture is still Black Christmas. After the most striking projects in this direction are: "Halloween", "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Children's Game", and "Friday, 13".

Inhuman "pure evil"

Also, the horrors of adolescents are different in that the killer chooses an unconventional tool of reprisal: the chainsaw ("Texas Chainsaw Massacre"), all sorts of huge knives ("Wes Craven's Creek") or other kind of blade, even obtuse objects and exotic cleavers. Such pictures are inherent in the prehistory, explaining how a maniac has come to such a life or why he stubbornly acts only in this place. The psychopath easily tolerates all attempts to neutralize him or ignores attempts of the victims to defend themselves, thanks to his real or implied abilities and incredible vitality. Even if drowned, burned, stabbed, he will not stop chasing unhappy teenagers. If the action takes place in the house, then the killer is traditionally oriented in it better than its inhabitants. The basement and the attic in this case are simply anomalous zones, they always burn out bulbs, the flashlights go out, the doors slam. But there are horror films about teenagers who show a psycho in such a way that it starts to evoke if not pity, then understanding, for example: "Quiet Night, Dead Night", "Ax", "High School of Massacre".

The central idea

The horrors of adolescents manage to keep all the above-mentioned conceptual components frightening the tense atmosphere and expecting an early reprisal. Proceeding from this psychopath extremely rarely appears in the frame or opens only at the climax. The central idea of such film projects is characterized by the mandatory presence of an impressive number of murders, and the storyline tells of the attempts of unfortunate teenagers to avoid them. Classical is the plot in which the action takes place in a school, university or remote countryside.

Celebrated ...

Many horrors about teenagers, whose list is known to a wide audience of viewers, unfold their narrative on a landmark date or a holiday: Halloween, My Bloody Valentine, Black Christmas, April Fools Day, Train of Fear, "Graduation", "Massacre at school", "Sleeping Camp", "Uninvited Guest" and "Scary Stage". Sometimes the spectator's interest is supported by new, more sophisticated methods of violence and extraordinarily realistic special effects.

Anti-heroes forever

It is easy enough to make a list of films about teenagers, the horrors of which have become multi-series, they are distinguished by the tendency to focus on the stories of villains, not surviving heroes. The most famous antagonists of all time, with the ecstasy of exterminating teenagers over several parts, are Norman Bates, Chucky, Ben Willis, Pinhead, Michael Myers, Ghost Face, Leatherface, Jason Voorheese and, of course, Freddy Krueger.

In place of the maniac comes the supernatural

Recently, a lone maniac in horror stories about teenagers is increasingly replacing all sorts of monsters: ghosts, zombies, fictional creatures and even aliens, their effects due to the development of computer technology look a hundred times steeper than the pictures about Freddie or Halloween. Films that have become cult, are shocking, but having looked at them several times, you are no longer frightened, they seem unnatural and even ridiculous. Films of the last years look intellectual and really frightening. Below is a list of the most impressive films of this category.
