Holy Resurrection Cathedral of Bishkek: history of creation

Bishkek is rich in sights, and one of them is the Holy Resurrection Cathedral. Bishkek last year began the restoration of its shrine, turning it into one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.

History

The appearance of the cathedral was planned in the 40s of the 20th century. The Frunze Orthodox community (the name of Bishkek at that time) received approval for the creation of the church in 1944. The building of the KIRSPOMSOVET was allocated for the church, the construction of which was not completed. Ready then were only the walls - neither the roof nor the finish did not exist. The reconstruction was carried out according to V.Veryuzhsky's project. The internal structure of the church was thoroughly considered. The three-level iconostasis separated the altar. In the temple were built the thrones of St. Alexis and the Resurrection of the Lord.

The walls were finished with ceramics. The overlap of the temple is a box-like vault. The roof was made gable. The decorations of the temple are the tops on narrow drums. The tented bell tower crowns the church, towering over the neighborhoods by 29.5 meters.

By decree of the head of Tatarstan in 1996, expansion and improvement of the territory was carried out.

Decision on reconstruction

For all of its existence, the Sviir-Resurrection Cathedral has never been restored. Bishkek could not afford to make any significant reconstruction, only from time to time there was a cosmetic repair.

Archpriest Igor Dronov said that the question of major repairs arose long ago, but before that it was not up to him. After the adoption of the dignity Bishop Daniel of Bishkek decided to familiarize himself with the state of the churches. Rising to the roof, he saw that she had come into utter unfitness. Immediately afterwards, it was decided to begin the reconstruction immediately. In addition, the altar part was added, so the roof would have to be changed anyway.

Reconstruction

The Holy Resurrection Cathedral of Bishkek is a monument of architecture of national importance. Therefore, to obtain permission to repair it, it is necessary to obtain approval from various authorities. So, to solve the problem, it took seismologists, designers, architects, geologists and representatives of the Ministry of Culture. As a result of these visits, representatives of the diocese remained with a bunch of prescriptions in their hands.

In such a neglected state, as was the Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek), whose photo is now the decoration of the catalogs, it was already pointless to talk about the repair - a complete restoration was needed. When the turn of completion of the altar part of the building approached, difficulties began. It was planned to cover the building with a roof in the same style, but there were doubts about the ability of the walls to withstand it. After the survey by various authorities, a plan was developed to make sure that the church did not lose its functionality.

Thus, it was decided to strengthen the foundation, part of the walls and completely replace the roof. According to plan, the facade remained outwardly unchanged, but this is already the matter of decorators and architects.

Finds

When the workers began to dismantle the Resurrection Cathedral of Bishkek, specifically the altar part of the wall, frescoes were found under the plaster casts decorating it. These icons appeared during construction, but with one of the repairs were closed with modern elements. This discovery gave food for thought about the safety of the beauty found. To do this, invited artists who are familiar with the restoration of such ornaments. Experts, having examined the frescoes, came to the conclusion that they are subject to restoration. Initially, we wanted to use only a layer of paint, but in this case the probability of destruction of the frescoes was increased. Therefore, cut out part of the wall, enclosing it in a concrete frame, which prevents spillage.

After the measures taken, the icon can be transferred to a prepared place. Weighing about 5 tons of icons can be restored.

Update Features

Applying modern technology, the architects developed a project showing the new look of the cathedral, with a high vault and new domes. It was especially important to take into account the acoustic characteristics. Speech uttered during the service in the Resurrection Cathedral, should not sound too loud, but not be deaf. This is very important, since the priest does not raise his voice, but everyone should hear it.

Ideal - do not resort to the help of speakers and any technique. The echo does not allow to perceive the sound adequately, but the domed vault allows the sound to "fall" evenly, spreading over the entire area.

Plans

Bishkek is engaged in financing reconstruction. The Holy Resurrection Cathedral slowly changes its appearance. This is helped not only by the authorities, but also by the residents: electrics, some builders, work absolutely free of charge. Citizens help with money, strength, prayer. The priests are grateful for any help, as it enables us to quickly restore the Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek). The description of this temple in the near future will decorate any catalog of local attractions.

The services can be held in the "bare" cathedral, Igor Dronov believes. The main thing was to finish in time the restoration of the walls and the equipment of the roof. The internal premises are gradually removed. It is noted that if services are in the temple, the remaining work takes much less time, they fully correspond to the ideas, without leaving a feeling of dissatisfaction.

The Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek), whose address: Zhibek Jolu Avenue, 497, receives a lot of messages from abroad. Many emigrants keep in memory the blue domes of the cathedral, which they used to go with their families in childhood. Even while abroad, these people want the restoration of the cathedral. The day when the work is over will be a great holiday.
