Hand bending - the principle of work and variety

Hand bending is a mechanism that performs the function of processing pipes and metal profiles. It is used most often in construction industries for the installation of steel products. Unlike its industrial counterpart, a hand pipe bender is used for pipes, usually of smaller diameter or tools made from soft metal grades.

Varieties

At the moment, there are several types of similar devices. There are manual benders with a mechanical and hydraulic drive. In general, both options are excellent for the household, and their cost is tens of times smaller than industrial. At the same time, they are distinguished by a simple and reliable design, and this is a big plus in favor of such a product as a hand pipe bender.

Using

In practice, it turns out that a hand tool for processing metal pipes is unpretentious in maintenance, and it is very easy to use. However, due to the fact that it does not have complicated mechanisms, the mechanical pipe bender has to be driven by its own force to bend the material. Therefore, for large volumes of work (for example, during mass production), the operation of such a mechanism is simply not expedient.

It should be noted that the use of a hydraulic amplifier significantly reduces the effort required to process metal profiles and pipes. The design of this device is almost the same as the usual mechanical, except for the hydraulic booster. Thanks to this design, it is possible to increase the efficiency of the pipe bender several times, while at the same time spending a minimum of effort on the work. Due to this, these products can handle products of larger diameter and with thicker walls.

Work algorithm

The principle of operation of this mechanism can be divided into several stages. First, a template is mounted in the special holder, the size of which will be further adjusted by the profile or metal tube. Then a workpiece is placed in this device. It should be noted that if its diameter exceeds the permissible values, or it has too thick walls, it must be filled with sand. At the next stage, the workpiece is closed with a special plate, and with the aid of the lever the mechanism produces several strokes. After this, the blank is removed, and the process of the pipe operation is completed.

What can it handle?

As a rule, hand bending is intended for bending and forming of copper products. However, as practice shows, apart from them, the device can also effectively handle aluminum and even steel tools. Of course, the manual bending hand bender can only work with small-diameter mechanisms. For larger products, devices with an electric drive should be used.

Care

Despite the fact that the manual profile bender has a very simple design, the presence of foreign objects (such as dust, dirt and sand) significantly aggravates its work. Especially it concerns the device with the hydraulic booster, therefore periodically clean its surface from such "pests".
