Halit - a common disease of the mucous membrane of the mouth. It is an inflammation of the lips themselves and the edges around them. This is a rather unpleasant disease that causes discomfort, therefore, noticing the signs of such ailment as cheilitis, treatment should not be postponed.

Symptoms of the disease

The disease causes flaking of the lips, the border of which turns red and stands out strongly against the background of pale lips. It's like pulling together, which gives unpleasant sensations and even soreness. The lips themselves are like skin, and beneath it a bright red inflamed surface forms.

Causes leading to cheilitis:

- treatment may be needed after a person's stay under the streams of cold or, conversely, hot air. In other words, this can be called simple airing;

- Frequent licking of the mouth;

- Smoking;

- malnutrition;

- allergic reaction.

The most susceptible to the disease are women aged 20 - 40 years and men after 50 years. Halit begins to spread from the rim of the lower lip, initially there is one erosion of a small size, then the subsequent ones form. Erosions are covered with crusts, which can cause slight bleeding when removed. The corners of the lips are most prone to formation.

Inflammation can last a long time, it is prone to relapse, even if initially the first signs of cheilitis treatment occurred promptly and the lips again returned to normal, then erosion may appear again. Most often this happens in the autumn or winter, when the weather is more windy.

The main types of cheilitis are:

1. Exfoliative. Has a chronic form, affects only the lips, but completely, that is, it absolutely becomes red and inflamed. In this case, dry scales can form on the entire surface of the lips.

2. Atopic. It arises as a result of an allergic reaction to cosmetics, water, food, various bacteria. The rim blushes, flakes, itches, jaunts appear. Peeling with this cheilitis can spread and the face around the lips.

3. Hypovitaminosis cheilitis. Treatment should start with the adoption of vitamins, since the main reason for their occurrence is their lack. In addition to other signs, cracks appear and bleed. Inflamed and increases the size of the tongue.

4. Meteorological. Causes - stay in the wind, high humidity or dry air, prolonged exposure to the sun. Red rim swells, in some places densely covered with scales.

5. Abrasive. The most common is in the elderly. Causes may be climatic conditions or violations of blood supply to the lips. Such cheilitis can proceed, forming large erosions and is difficult to treat.

Halit. How to treat?

Treatment begins with recommendations. The most important thing is to learn how to breathe through the nose, so that the lips are exposed to less airing. It will also help get rid of bad habits, bite correction and proper nutrition.

Drug treatment is prescribed by a dentist, determining the type of cheilitis and examining the patient.

Treatment of cheilitis with folk remedies
