Gonococcus in the smear

There are many diseases, the main way of transmission is sexual. One of them is gonorrhea - the defeat of the genito-urinary tract by a specific microorganism - gonococcus.

With such a disease, gonococci can always be found in the smear. This disease occurs with a characteristic clinical picture and severe consequences.

The main symptoms of the disease

- pathological purulent discharge from the genital organs;

- a feeling of itching and burning in the genital area;

- pain in the lower abdomen and in the lumbar region;

- Sometimes allocation can get bloody character;

- puffiness of the walls of the vagina, glans penis.

There is also a course of the disease without severe clinical symptoms, but this does not exclude the development of complications of the disease.

Gonococci affect almost all organs of the small pelvis, but with oral contact and the oropharynx.

Possible ways of detecting gonococcus

Every woman must visit a gynecologist at least once every six months. At each such preventive examination, a smear of the vaginal microflora is taken for the study. Normally, the flora should be constant, red blood cells should not be present, and the number of leukocytes should not exceed 10. Sometimes, with such a preventive examination, gonococci can be detected in a smear - this is an alarming sign. Such a result may indicate an asymptomatic course of the disease, a covert carrier or simply an initial period of the disease, which at the moment has not had time to clinically manifest itself.

When a specialist discovers gonorrhea in a smear, then the next step is to confirm the diagnosis by other methods.

How else can you identify the gonococcus in the body?

The method of specific detection of a microorganism is a polymerase chain reaction. The effectiveness of this method is more than 90%, it is relatively inexpensive and easy to perform. During this procedure, the device tries to find the remains or whole DNA of the microbe.

PCR research on gonococci can be considered positive if the device gives out even the slightest confirmation of the genetic material of the bacterium in the smear, but if neyersiya is not found, then the person can be considered healthy.

Analysis of gonorrhea should be done in the morning or in the morning. The patient should know that to obtain a more accurate result, one does not urinate for several hours before giving the test. During the day, it is best to refrain from having sexual intercourse. It is also necessary to stop the use of all local urogenital funds.

For the diagnosis of gonococcus scraping of cells of the mucous membrane of the urethra, cervix, rectum and posterior pharyngeal wall is undertaken. It is also possible to study biological fluids: urine, semen, a prostatic secret, separated from the eyes.

Before taking the material for the study, the doctor collects an anamnesis from the patient, exposes a preliminary diagnosis based on the clinical picture and patient complaints. And taking into account all these data suggests possible places of localization of the Neisseria, therefore, as a rule, 1-2 points are taken for research.

After the material is collected, it is placed in a special test tube, where a liquid was previously placed in which the bacterium does not perish.

Thus, we either confirm gonorrhea in a smear, or we deny their presence by PCR diagnostics. It should be noted that the results of the study can affect many factors, so if the doctor doubts the accuracy of the study, then after a while the analysis is best to repeat. After all, there are such concepts as false positive and false negative test results.
