Global problems of mankind

The sphere of human activity at the current stage of development covers the entire globe and even transcends it. Given the heterogeneity of mankind, its activities simply can not but be accompanied by certain contradictions. If they cover the entire planet and near-Earth space, then these are global problems.

The global problems of the modern world cover all aspects of human life, concern all countries, peoples and strata of the population, refer to both the surface of the earth and the world's oceans, atmosphere, and space, leading to serious economic and social losses. Consequently, the solution of these problems is the task of the whole world, requiring universal unification.

Global problems are divided into several types:

  • Ecological: includes ozone holes, greenhouse effect, recycling of industrial wastes, ecological catastrophes. Solve these problems locally on the The level of one state simply is not possible.
  • Economic: it requires the solution of such problems as depletion of resources, sustainable development, redistribution of benefits.
  • Energy: the energy crisis, the problem of safe operation of nuclear power plants and utilization of their waste, alternative energy sources.
  • Space: peaceful exploration of outer space, pollution of space.
  • Political: mutual understanding at the international level, peaceful settlement of conflicts, racial conflicts, fighting terrorism.
  • Weapons: the problem of the disarmament of individual states, in particular the problem of nuclear and biological weapons.
  • Natural: food problem, destruction of ecosystems.
  • Health: the demographic problem, pandemics (AIDS), oncological diseases.
  • Social: spiritual crisis, illiteracy, the formation of an ecological type of thinking aimed at harmonizing all spheres of human activity with nature.

The global problems of mankind at the state and international levels are, for the time being, considered, unfortunately, as something very abstract and requiring solutions only in the distant future. As for the individual level, with rare exceptions, people take the position of neutrality, they say, it does not concern me personally. All this testifies to the lack of understanding by the masses of the seriousness of global problems.

Global problems of society have several characteristic features:

  • They have a universal character, covering the interests of all peoples (and sometimes all living things) and each person, in particular.
  • In the absence of their solution, sooner or later they will lead to a global catastrophe and the death of mankind.
  • They require joint efforts of all mankind.
  • They require an integrated, synergetic approach.

In fact, the global problems of mankind reflect the unevenness and imbalance of its development. Developing industry, a person lost touch with nature, resulting in exacerbated environmental problems. The tendency to create an information society and the dominance of capitalism led to a spiritual crisis. The predominance of individualism and infantile egoism brought political, weapon and social problems to the forefront. This is how the cause-effect relationships between seemingly crises in completely different areas are realized. However, solving one problem will not cause the law of a positive correlation of the solutions of others: it requires a single integrated approach based on a global reconstruction of the consciousness of mankind in favor of a collective way of existence, effective interaction and harmonious development in connection with nature and the next and previous generations.
