In Russia, the Day of Air Force is celebrated annually in the last summer month, on the 12th. This date was established by the decree of the President in 2006. In addition, it is established as a gratitude to military specialists who were able to ensure the security and defense of the state.

The day of the air force was established thanks to the archival order dated 1912. It was he who asserted the creation of military Russian aviation.

In the twentieth century, the first models of aircraft appeared, which were intended for military purposes. From the same moment in Russia, the purchase of military aircraft and the training of military pilots began.

The events of the First World War contributed to the significant development of military aviation. Aircraft were used in those years for reconnaissance, as well as to defeat the target in the air and on the ground. Since 1917, Russian military aviation has become an independent type of military forces.

At the end of the Civil War, enterprises for the creation of aircraft were restored in Russia in the shortest possible time. Particular attention was paid to the improvement of the air-military system. Squadrons, the air corps, operational associations were formed. And in 1939-1940 in the forces of military Soviet aviation the organization was changed from brigade to divisional and regimental.

The military-air system of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War

By the beginning of this terrible event for the whole people, the USSR Air Force had already 5 brigades of aviation, 79 divisions, 19 aviation regiments. It should be noted that they were armed with the latest types of aircraft, work was underway to reorganize the aviation rear, and air aircraft continued to be equipped with the latest technology.

The first years of the Second World War for Russian aviation were devastating, it caused great harm. However, despite the difficult conditions, the air-based aviation system has been strengthened. And in 1943 the USSR was recognized as a leader in air domination.

Postwar period in the development of air force aviation and modernity

After the end of the war, piston aviation moved to reactive aviation, there was a constant improvement in the structure of the organization of formations and units.

After the Soviet Union ceased to exist on the map, the air forces of the post-Soviet space considerably weakened. Parts of the aviation grouping were transferred to the union republics. In many territories, a significant part of the more prepared airfield network remained.

The Day of the Russian Air Force is one of the main holidays for the country, because this group of troops is one of the main parts of the military complex of the Russian Federation. This day is given special attention.

The Day of Air Force of 2013 will be remembered by Russians and guests of the country for a long time, as it was celebrated solemnly and with great scope. Aviation of Russia this year turned 101 years.
