Fraer - who is this? The meaning and origin of the word

Surely, each of us heard an expression about some frauer, which ruined his own greed. Also often used is the expression "not for long the music played, for a short while the dancer was dancing." What does this expression mean? Fraer - who is this at all? Where did this word come from and what does it mean if we look at it from different social angles.

Origin

According to historians, the word freier first appeared in the everyday life of the Germans several hundred years ago. From the ancient German "fraer" - who is it? This is a person who is completely free from any obligations, or the groom. There is also a translation where the word denotes a young man who often visits brothels and has enough money to take a girl of easy virtue for the night. A similar translation of "fiancé, beloved" occurs in this word and in Ukrainian explanatory dictionaries.

Thieves' throats

It is not known whether the word, as they say, came from the German or Ukrainian lexicon, as they say, to the people, but it was sewn there thoroughly. Scientists say that the closest thing was German, as he moved to Yiddish, and from there many words and expressions already came to the thieves 'thieves' vocabulary of pre-war and post-war time.

If we talk about thieves lexicon, then this word can have different meanings. Frair trump is a person who was in prison and refers to thieves. Fraier civilized - a man who was never in prison, an intellectual, is a very tasty money piece for bandits, hooligans and thieves. Even in Polish thieves' slang there is such a word. The Poles frajer - this is a simpleton, which is very easy to deceive. It turns out that the languages are different, and the fraer - it's everywhere fraer.

There are other slang variations that explain what "fraer" means. For example, this word can mean a prisoner, but one who has just started his thieving path and has not yet been ranked among the highest thieves caste. Bandits and thieves are one thing, and priblatennnaya fraer - quite another.

The second group is allowed to steal, deceive. Such a fraer is considered a simpleton, a ruffian, an inexperienced person. Quite often you can hear the phrase: "What am I - fraera or something?". It will mean that a person does not classify himself as someone who is so easily deceived, robbed and traced around his finger.
