Foul - a violation of the rules in the game sports

Each sport game has its own rules that players are not allowed to violate. However, it's not always possible to follow the established order, therefore there is a concept that characterizes the moment when a member of one team plays not according to the rules against another. Foul is the very concept that a similar situation is characterized. In various sports, this word can mean different types of non-player behavior, so consider some of the most popular examples. It is enough to look at football and basketball - the two most popular team sports. And in each of them a foul is a violation of the rules, but there are differences between these fouls, and they are quite impressive.

What is a foul?

Foul is an intentional violation of the rules of a particular sport, most often team and game. A foul may be followed by a warning or even removal - again, depending on the situation and the sport in question in this particular case. Violation of the rules is unsporting behavior, so it is not encouraged. It is for this that there are judges, referees or referees - these are the people who follow the game process and punish those players who too often foul. In basketball, a warning is issued, and then the player is removed. In football there are both oral warnings, and special cards, yellow and red, which will be discussed in more detail later. So, now you know what the foul is all about. This allows you to move on and look at specific cases, trying to deal with individual sports. What actions are illegal in basketball, but will be absolutely normal in football?

Fouls in basketball

First of all, it's worth looking at what can be a violation in basketball. In this sport there is even a special classification of fouls, which allows you to determine what exactly happened on the field and how this will affect the further development of the game. The main foul is a personal foul, which is called that for the reason that it is committed by the player against another player. It can be a lock, a push, a blow and so on.

The fouls in the attack that are committed by the players of the attacking team are separately considered in order to gain an advantage in the attack, that is, the grips of the defenders, their blockage, and so on. There is also a mutual foul - this is not such a frequent event, since it is classified as a violation committed simultaneously by two players of different teams. If this happens on the site, then both players receive warnings.

But the punishment will be discussed a little later, now it is more important to consider the remaining types of violations. For example, there are especially gross fouls that are classified as unsportsmanlike and disqualifying. The first are those violations in which the player did not intend to play the ball, and immediately planned to attack the enemy. As for the second type, he is the most rude, and for him the player does not just leave the court, but even gets expelled from the playing area, that is, he can not stay to watch the match on the bench.

Well, the last kind is a technical foul. Such a violation is separate from others, since it is not caused by contact with the enemy. This can be a delay in the ball, disrespect for the opponent or the referee and so on. Well, now you know not only the meaning of the word "foul", but also what fouls are in basketball. But what for them can be a player?

Punishment in basketball

In basketball, there is a strict system of punishments, which makes the judging process much simpler and more convenient. The player is allowed five fouls per game. If it reaches this amount, it is removed from the site, but it can be replaced by another player. Depending on the situation, free throws can be assigned, this depends on the conditions of the foul and its coarseness. Non -portive and disqualifying fouls are considered separately, since in the case of the first one, the removal occurs after two fouls, and in the case of the second ones, after all, one after all. Given the severity of punishment, there is the notion of "playing on the brink of a foul," that is, it is rather risky and rude, being a step away from fouling. This is a brave tactic, but it can often lead to the fact that players can not cope with the pressure and cross this very face.

Fouls in football

As for football, there is not so much a detailed system for assessing illegal actions on the part of players. That is, very much in this sport remains at the discretion of the judges. On the one hand, this makes this sport unique and preserves its spirit, but on the other hand it leads to a lot of controversial situations and, of course, unpleasant judging errors that can often decide the outcome of the match. So, basically in football fouls are blows to the feet, jerks, rough play, hand play and so on. But what will happen if the player fouls?

Penalties in football

As you have already understood, the arbitrator himself decides very much in football, that's why he can choose the punishment himself - naturally, the judges have their own rules, they are trained, but this does not cancel the fact that in one situation one judge will whistle and stop the game , And the other will play further without seeing in the actions on the field a frank violation of the rules. For committing a foul, players receive verbal warnings, but if these warnings have accumulated a lot or if the foul was very rough, a yellow card is given. This is a warning of a higher order, and the player needs to be more cautious on the field, since the second yellow card will lead to his removal, and, unlike basketball, in football can not be released on the new player's field. The team that had the removal, remains in the minority until the end of the match. So the game on the brink of a foul here is also possible, but until a certain moment, until it becomes too dangerous. It is also worth noting that the red card can be shown directly for the most gross and dirty violations.
