How to make a pretty tree from a lemon?

To your lemon was not just a pretty tree, but brought as much fruit as possible annually, you need to have an idea of the principles of the formation of its crown. First, a vertical escape of zero order grows. During the year on it shoots of the first order are formed, from which it is necessary to leave 3-4 branches, and the rest to be cut off. Further on the remaining shoots grow new - 2 nd order, then 3 rd, 4 th, etc. Starting from the 4th order, fruits will begin to appear on your tree.

Crown formation occurs as follows: when the zero order shoot reached 15-20 cm in height, it should be cut off, leaving 4 developed kidneys. These kidneys later form skeletal shoots, directed in different directions. When they reach a length of 20-30 cm, they pinch. Shoots of the 2nd order must be cut to a length of about 25 cm. The following shoots should be shorter than the previous ones by 5 cm. The crown formation on the shoots of the 4th order is coming to an end.

Lemon Crohn usually has different types of branches. Some of them bear fruit by the end of the first year, others - growing, with the prospect of fruiting in the next year, and some (fat) - grow vertically and do not bear fruit. Pay attention to the twigs that are in the upper part of the crown and are located horizontally - for the most part they give the most fruits. They need to be taken care of most of all.

Why regularly do pruning?

Do not forget to regularly cut off dead branches of higher orders in order not to overload the tree. As for fatty shoots, they must either be completely removed, or cut to 20-25 cm. But remember that unnecessarily cutting the tree, there is a risk of weakening it. The best period for pruning lemons is in March, when the buds appear. It can also be thinned in winter, after the fruits have been removed.

In time, pinch the tree and periodically remove some of the flowers so that it does not run out, and also feed the lemon, and then it will successfully bear fruit every year, pleasing with an abundance of juicy natural fruits. We hope that our recommendations will help you grow a healthy, fruit-bearing fruit tree. Good luck to you, beginners florists!
