Footballer Robbie Fowler: career and achievements

Robbie Fowler is an English football player who played in the position of the striker. He is a pupil of the club "Liverpool" and had an extremely successful career, becoming also an important player for the England team. But in which clubs did he play? What results did you achieve? You can find out all the details of Robbie Fowler's career by reading this article.

"Liverpool"

Robbie Fowler was born in 1975 in Liverpool, respectively, he did not see for himself another option, except to go to the football school of the same name club. There he showed himself to be just wonderful and until 1993 he played for youth teams until he signed a professional contract at the age of 18, then immediately became the player of the base and gradually gained the role of the key figure. In his first season for "Liverpool" Fowler scored 18 goals in 34 games, and in subsequent he continued to develop his success. In three seasons he scored more than thirty goals in all tournaments, twice becoming a young player of the year in England. However, the next three seasons were a step back for Fowler: a large number of injuries and inadequate behavior of the player, which now and then led to long disqualifications, cut his performances for the club twice, and in the season 99/00 he generally scored only 3 goals. But then the hero of our narrative was rehabilitated and drew the attention of the larger club at that time "Leeds", which laid out for the player 17 million euros. For those times it was considered a very large amount. So Robbie Fowler left his native club in 2001 at the age of 26 years.

"Leeds"

For this club, Robbie Fowler spent only two seasons, and they were far from the most successful. In the first season, he scored only 12 goals, and in the second - in general 2. Quite quickly it became clear that Leeds was not Fowler's team, so he immediately began to look for a new "house." And in 2003, the striker at the age of 28 moved to Manchester City, which paid 10 million euros for the player. This was far from the best and smartest purchase, because by that time it became obvious that Fowler's career had gone to the sunset.

Manchester City and rent

Three years played for "Manchester City" Robbie Fowler. The football player entered the field during this time 91 times, striking the opponents' gate only 27 times. That is why it was decided not to renew the contract with him. When the 31-year-old had six months left before the contract was over, he was leased by Liverpool. There he played 16 matches and scored five goals. Naturally, this was not the result that the talented Robbie Fowler demonstrated at a young age. Which club could still take an aging player to itself? Naturally, only his own.

Return to Liverpool

The lease was considered successful, and Fowler was offered a one-year contract. During this time he played for Liverpool 23 more matches, scoring 7 goals. Extend the contract with the player did not, and in 2007 as a free agent, he moved to Cardiff City. At that time this club played in "Championships", the second division of England.

Cardiff City

Robbie Fowler, whose club was not in the best condition, struggled to help him, but played only 16 matches, which scored only six goals. When his contract expired, Fowler was out of work for a month - no one wanted to shelter the athlete.

Blackburn

Only in August, under the curtain of the transfer window, Blackburn signed with an old legend the contract for three months, during which Robbie played six games without having distinguished himself in them once. After not receiving a proposal to extend the contract, Fowler went to explore new territories.

North Queensland Fury

In 2009, Robbie Fowler, whose photo was already a mascot for the British, decided to master the new continent and signed a contract with the Australian club "North Queensland Fury", for which he played the season. He spent 26 matches in which he scored nine goals. But the happiness was short-lived: Fowler quarreled with the coach, then sued the club and broke his contract with him because of financial problems.

Perth Glory

Deciding to remain in Australia, Fowler signed a contract with Perth Glory, for which he played 28 matches and scored the same number of goals as the previous club - nine. Everything went fine, but at the end of the season on the club's website there was a statement that Fowler will not play for the club next year - the player said he wants to be closer to the family.

Muangtong United

After the Australian experiment, Fowler decided to continue exotic travels and signed a contract with the Thai club "Muangtong United". There he was soon appointed as a playing coach, played twenty matches and scored four goals. In February 2012, at the age of 36, Robbie announced that he was leaving the club, and also completing his football career.

National team appearances

As already mentioned above, Robbie Fowler also played for England. However, it can not be said that he was a key figure there: during his career the athlete had only 26 matches, in which he scored seven goals. His debut took place in 1996, when he was only 21 years old. But his first goal, he scored in 1997 in a friendly against Mexico. He scored five more goals in friendly matches, and only once he managed to excel in the official tournament - the qualifying stage for the 2002 World Cup. He became the author of one of England's two goals against Albania. His last goal Robbie scored Cameroonians in a friendly match in preparation for the World Cup team, well, and the last match Fowler held already at the very World Cup - the entire group stage he sat in reserve, but in the 1/8 finals came on the field to fight with The Danes. This game was the last in his career for the England team.
