In three seasons he scored more than thirty goals in all tournaments, twice becoming a young player of the year in England. However, the next three seasons were a step back for Fowler: a large number of injuries and inadequate behavior of the player, which now and then led to long disqualifications, cut his performances for the club twice, and in the season 99/00 he generally scored only 3 goals.
