Flux on the gum is a dangerous dental disease

Flux is one of the most serious dental diseases, characterized by the formation of purulent cones. Usually appears on the gums near the dental root.

What triggers the emergence of flux? The most important reason is negligent attitude to your teeth, unwillingness to visit a dentist and self-medication. All this gradually leads to the formation of caries and subsequently to the acute form of the disease - flux. The medical term for this disease is periostitis.

Infection introduced into the cavity enters the pulp and thereby causes inflammation.

The peak of the disease is accompanied by severe pain, but with the dying of the pulp the pain is dulled, and this is the greatest danger, as the vigilance of the person is euthanized, there is a hope that the pain will pass by itself. However, now begins the development of a latent form of the disease. Infection with its "tentacles" as it turns the root of the tooth, and the pus gradually accumulates around it. In the end, there is inflammation of the bone jaw.

So, in order to timely detect the flux on the gum, it is necessary to identify its symptoms at an early stage. At the outset, attention should be paid to the pain that occurs when pressing on the tooth due to food intake. With the most thorough examination of the oral cavity, one can notice swelling of the mucosa around the tooth and the appearance of a cone that is filled with pus.

If the flux on the gum appeared in the upper region of the jaw, then the swelling of the lips and cheeks, swelling of the eyelids. If the process affects the lower part, then there is swelling of the chin, an increase in the lymph nodes under the lower jaw. The temperature rises to thirty-eight degrees, there is a general malaise. By the way, the symptoms of the disease are most pronounced in adults, rather than in children or elderly people.

The acute form of the flux is accompanied by a strong swelling of the gums, and the upper lip and nasolabial fold also swell . Gradually, pus spreads along the muscles, the soft tissues of the neck and face are affected. This stage of the disease is already in a state of neglect, and even a fatal outcome may occur.

Flux on the gum, which has passed into a chronic form, proceeds at a slowed pace. There is a thickening of the jawbone under the diseased tooth. Despite some inhibition, inflammation still develops.

Basically, the flux appears, primarily as a result of caries, and also because of any mechanical damage to the oral mucosa. The introduction of microbes using a syringe when anesthetizing the tooth can also provoke it.

On the basis of the foregoing, it becomes clear that the prerequisite for the formation of a flux is infection. Delay with treatment gives bacteria a favorable soil for spreading in the oral cavity. They gradually destroy the pulp, corroding it, and are selected to the periosteum. In the case of untimely seizure of the temporary seal with arsenic, the pulp is also destroyed, and favorable conditions for the occurrence of flux are created.

If there is already a flux on the gum, treatment is primarily to remove the purulent focus and eliminate inflammation. For this, anesthesia is performed, the gum is cut and pus is extracted. And in order for it to completely drain out, a drainage is applied in the form of a rubber bandage, which prevents the gums from fusing together. At the same time, you need to take antibiotics that relieve inflammation and pain.

After the pus came out completely, the drainage is removed, the bone tissue is regenerated. The gums need to be sewn, and the tooth should be removed, but only if it is severely affected by caries and there is no point in treating it.

The flux often develops after tooth extraction. A certain role may be played by violations of certain technologies or instructions. Then, postoperative complications are very possible, therefore it is advisable to apply only to the experts who have been tested.
