Breeding in the Home Conditions

Quail in China and Japan are considered a symbol of prosperity and wealth. In Russia, quails are bred because of the medicinal properties that quail eggs possess, considered a real delicacy. Therefore, in our country, the cultivation of quails at home is becoming more popular.

Quails carry eggs almost every day and, although they are considered unpretentious birds, in order to maintain high egg production, it is necessary to observe the optimal temperature and light regime and feed balanced feeds rich in protein. Breeding quails at home does not require you to spend a lot of money and will not take a lot of time.

Contain the bird in self-made or standard cells, one wall of which is made of mesh. The content of quails at home is impossible without observing certain rules: you must change the film once a day, which is under the cage bottom, feed adult birds two or three times a day and make sure that there is always clean water in the water bowl.

If you want to spend less time feeding the birds, install automatic drinking bowls and bunker feeders, in which the feed is poured once every three days. The cell itself needs to be installed in a dry and warm place without drafts.

Quail should be kept at a temperature of 20 degrees, and the illumination should be at least fourteen hours, but at the same time the quail does not like too bright light. Of all the species for breeding in captivity is best suited Japanese quail, which is bred in captivity for several generations. As you can see, the content of quails at home, low in consumption, quality of feeds and resistant to closely related crosses is not too troublesome business. The quails are treated with dry or wet mixed fodder, in which twice a week, knowledgeable people advise adding boiled liver.

Breeding quails at home is complicated by the fact that quail in captivity very rarely themselves hatch eggs. That is why the incubator is required for the withdrawal of chicks. You can make it yourself or buy in a store. The design and dimensions of the incubator can be different, only its ability to maintain a temperature of 36-39 degrees and from time to time automatically turn the eggs. But if the automatic incubator does not have the functions of an incubator, they will have to be turned over manually four times a day. The incubator "hatch" quail eggs for seventeen days - this is if there are no violations of the regime during the incubation period.

Growing quails in the home to a monthly age is made in a box made of plywood or wood. Until the two-week age, the chicks in the box need to provide constant lighting, and then gradually reduce the duration of the "light day" to 15 hours. The daily quail should be kept at a temperature of 37 degrees, weekly chickens need a temperature of 34 degrees, further - for weeks - 30, 26 and 22 degrees.

Breeding quails at home requires their proper feeding. In the first week of life the chicks are fed five times a day with chicken or quail eggs, grilled on a large grater, cooked with a boiled fish, crushed breadcrumbs and ground feed mixed with a large grater. Eggs need to be crushed together with the shell - it contains vitally important minerals.

Growing quails at home will be effective if the young at the age of one month to seed in the cages for breeding, dividing them according to gender. At the same time young quails (if there are extra) are fattened for meat, and quail is left for obtaining dietary eggs.

The benefit of breeding quail is obvious. One quail (adult) eats 25 grams of feed per day, up to the bottomhole age of feed consumes less than a kilogram. For a year the quail can carry more than three hundred eggs, so it can be said with certainty that the breeding of quails is a very profitable business.
