Fish shmoya - royal fish

Fish description

As a flock, the fish prefer oxygen-rich and clean water. In Iran, for its tender taste, it is called shah-mag (royal fish). Externally, fish, which is a representative of the order of carp, resembles a sticker, only with a taller body and orange bases on the pectoral fins. The royal fish feed on insects, zooplankton and their larvae. Fish shmoya forms residential and semipermanent forms, rising into the rivers only for spawning. The permanent residence of this fish is the tributaries of the Azov, as well as the Black and Caspian Seas.

Before the revolution, it was bred in lakes and ponds in landowners' farms along the banks of the Dnieper, and in the fifties of the twentieth century, several fish hatcheries were opened in the Kuban basin, which began to develop an ecological progeny for shah-mage. The average weight of the Shemai is two hundred grams, but there are also 700-gram specimens. In our country, the stocks of this king-fish have significantly decreased. The reason for this was its uncontrolled catch, which was conducted earlier, and without any established norms. Currently, this type of fish is successfully acclimatized in some closed water bodies of the Stavropol Territory. In fish farms of the Kuban and the Don, too, the young is bred of this fish. In addition, steps are being taken to protect and multiply its reserves in all other habitats.

Reproduction

The spawning fish is spawned at the end of autumn. In females, the lower jaw increases , and the males have spines on the head, which then disappear. The peculiarity of this fish is that it interrupts its spawning in the turbidity of water and waits for it to lighten up. The approach of the shemai to the spawning site, as a rule, begins after the onset of twilight. It continues until midnight. And vice versa, manufacturers roll down at sunrise. Each female is spawned by several males. Caviar, covered with sticky mucus and firmly attached to the stones, the fish sweeps in portions until the very end of June. Fry, hatching already on the eleventh day, carefully hiding in dark secluded places: in crevices, under rocks. In the lower reaches of the juvenile slides down rather late, moving slowly until early spring. Most of the individuals spawn only up to three times throughout their life. Only a small amount - up to five times. In some regions, the path of the shemai to natural spawning sites is blocked by human economic activity: on many rivers, due to the presence of hydroelectric stations, there has been a sharp and significant decline in her livestock. However, not only reduction of spawning grounds affects natural reproduction: it is negatively affected by water pollution and tangible changes in river levels.

Catching Shemai mainly occurs in the early spring months. One of the necessary conditions for successful fishing is the wind. To keep this fish, bait and pride are applied. The best for this is the meat of shellfish, passed through a meat grinder. Nozzles, which are caught shmoya - fish (small), earthworms, bloodworm, neresis and oparysh. Ways to catch a lot, including a float fishing rod from the boat. As a snap fit light long rods. No less gambling and spring catching in the wiring, during which the best bait is the debris. For hunting large specimens of shemai, the bait is thrown away from the shore, since this fish is rather cautious, it is practically not tempted by baits near the shore.
