"Fiat-Scudo": brief history and review of the model

Fiat Scudo is a medium-sized minivan, the official debut of which took place in 1995. The car is an intermediate link between the Doblo and Ducato modifications (it is larger than the first one and less than the second one). The car can accommodate nine people, so it is widely used by various companies that provide transportation services for passengers, including taxis.

Debut

In 1995, the first generation of the Fiat-Scudo model was introduced to the general public. Experts' reviews from the very beginning of the car's existence characterized it as a car with optimal dimensions. And the truth, the total length of the salon of the novelty exceeded the mark of two meters, while its load-carrying capacity was about 900 kilograms. For it, three types of power plants were envisaged, each of which was a diesel engine. The first engine had a volume of 1.9 liters and a capacity of 68 "horses". The second variant of the power plant was a two-liter 89-strong "diesel". As for the third type, it was the second of the above mentioned installations, equipped with a turbine, thanks to which the total capacity of the unit increased to a mark of 99 horsepower.

First Changes

Despite the significant initial success of the Fiat Scudo model, the feedback and wishes of the owners of the car indicated the need to improve and expand the range of engines provided for it. As a result, in 2004 the manufacturer presented a new range of power plants. The first of the engines remained the same - a 1.9-liter 68-strong "diesel". In addition to it, the car could be equipped with two variants of JTD turbodiesel, 93 and 108 horsepower, and also a two-liter petrol unit with 134 horsepower.

The second generation

The debut of the second, and so far the last, generation of auto took place in 2007. It should be noted that during the development of his design many ideas and solutions were borrowed from the Ducato model. This explains the similarity of the two cars. As before, the basic concepts of the minivan "Fiat Scudo" became convenience, spaciousness and external attractiveness. The total volume of the luggage compartment of the novelty was 770 liters, and the load capacity rose to the level of 1200 kilograms. Second-generation cars began to accommodate nine passengers, and not seven, as before. Rear rows of seats, if necessary, can be dismantled or folded, thereby increasing the useful volume of the trunk.

Other improvements

Significantly improved were also in the second generation of the Fiat Skudo car characteristics of the engines. The manufacturer has provided for the model all the same four variants of power plants. Together with this they have been finalized taking into account the latest trends in the automotive industry. As a result, the efficiency of motors has increased, as well as their economy. The engineers paid special attention to providing a high level of comfort for passengers, ease of driving, and ergonomics of the front panel. Among other things, it is necessary to note a special style, which is typical for the novelty, because its appearance, it strongly resembles a sports station wagon.

"Fiat-Scudo" is produced in two trim levels: Family, which is aimed at couples with children, and Executive, designed for use as a client car. The second option is more expensive, and its main advantages include the ability to separately adjust the air conditioner for each of the rows of seats.

Popularity and Analogues

The second generation of the car immediately after its appearance on the market exceeded all the plans of the manufacturer regarding the number of sales. A striking proof of the stunning success can be called and the fact that the advertisement of the car starred the famous German racing driver Michael Schumacher.

Since 2007, the production of the Fiat-Scudo model takes place in France. Its main competitors are Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert. All these models are not only very similar in appearance but have in many ways similar technical characteristics.

Model "Scudo" in Russia

Official delivery of the car to the domestic market began only in 2014. Here the model is presented in the passenger and cargo versions. As for the engine, for Russian consumers only 120-strong diesel engine is provided, the volume of which is two liters.

Modification of the car in the body of the "van" has a load capacity of 0.9 to 1.1 tons, depending on its height and length. As standard, the ABS system and one airbag are included . The cost of this option starts from the mark of 959 thousand rubles.

"Fiat-Scudo" in the version "minibus" is supplemented with an audio system, climate and cruise control, as well as heated front and side windows. All those wishing to buy a car will have to lay out at least 1.161 million rubles.

In addition to these two options, a combined version is also envisaged. In this case, the passenger compartment is designed for five people, while the cargo compartment volume is 2.9 cubic meters, and its load capacity is 0.8 tons. The minimum cost of such an automobile is 1.064 million rubles.
