"Fiat Croma": specifications of the first and second generation

"Fiat Croma" is a car, the history of which begins in the 80s of the last century. In those days, a new 5-door practical model potential buyers appreciated. It combines a lot of good qualities, the main of which - spaciousness and convenience.

Start of release

"Fiat Croma" was immediately offered in several versions. And they differed in their engines. The most powerful power unit of the first years is a 2-liter 155-horsepower gasoline engine. But, in addition to it, another 5 engines were proposed, working on this fuel. Of these - four 2-liter. There was an option for 90, 120, 115 and 150 liters. from. And one more - 1.6-liter, 83 liters. from. Also there were models with a diesel unit for 75 "horses" (volume was 2.5 liters) and 100 liters. from. (Turbodiesel, 2.45 liters).

In 1988, a new plant, Fiat, was started, equipped with new modern equipment. Not surprisingly, the model range was decided to expand. There was a new Fiat Crome - with a 92-strong turbodiesel, which had a direct fuel injection system. The model, among other things, went down in history as the first production car equipped with a similar engine.

Restyling

In the spring of 1989, Fiat Crome changed. The body, salon was transformed, and the engines affected the reforms. Power 1.6-liter, gasoline, not much increased - up to 85 liters. from. The remaining units, the volume of which was 2 liters, also began to produce more "horses". And, to be more precise, 100, 115, 120, 150 and 158 liters. from. The turbodiesel 2.5-liter unit now boasted a capacity of 118 liters. from.

Further, in the beginning of 1991, there was a turbodiesel novelty. Namely - 1.9 VNT-Turbo. The power of this engine was 94 liters. from. In December 1992, the engine lineup was supplemented by a 16-valve 2-liter unit with 140 liters. from. And in 1993 appeared 162-strong, with a volume of 2.5 liters.

In general, as you can see, the manufacturers were very worried about what exactly stands under the hoods of their cars. Apparently, it is for this reason that the car Fiat Crome won the trust. Because this car really enjoyed popularity and was bought by many.

Further production

In 1996 the car Fiat Kroma ceased to be produced. In total, 450 thousand cars were produced and sold.

But in 2005 the Italian concern presented a novelty to the public. This was the second generation of the Croma model. Practically after ten years, the company decided to return to the European segment of E. And the novelty really had all the qualities that made it popular again.

This model was designed on a shorter platform, taken from the Opel Signum car . At the given average-size versatile person the wheelbase is equal to 2700 mm. It is characterized by a shortened rear overhang, MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link design at the rear. In length the novelty reaches 4.75 m, in width - 1.77 m, and in height - 1.6 m.

The design was very successful: simple, but at the same time, elegant. Especially pleasing is the expressive "look" of the headlights and the chrome radiator grille.

The novelty has a comfortable, ergonomic and practical interior. Inside is spacious, so there is enough room for the driver and four passengers. Rear seats, by the way, can be folded and moved forward or backward - regardless of each other, since they are separate.

Equipment for the second generation of Fiat is worthy: 7 airbags, ES, ABS, air conditioning, spherical side windows, xenon optics, cruise control, audio system with 8 speakers and many other various amenities.

Technical features of the second generation

What else can you tell about the model of the mid-2000s? This is technically a completely new "Fiat Croma". 154 horsepower - is not the limit. The most powerful engine model line could produce 200 liters. from. And the least powerful version was the 1.8-liter 130-hp unit. There was also a gasoline engine for 150 liters. from. (2.2 liters). But the main accent the developers made on the turbodiesel. The proposed installation - 1.9 liters R4 8V (power was 120 hp) and 1.9 liters R4 16V (150 "horses"). Both versions of the Fiat Crome model were popular. 2.0-liter versions were not, only 1.9 and 2.2. And, of course, the notorious flagship 200-hp engine, its volume was 2.4 liters. By the way, there were versions both with 6-band mechanics, and with a 6-speed automatic. The buyer decides which option to purchase. For each Fiat Crome engine, a manual or automatic transmission could be installed.

The most important thing is that this model received five stars for passing the EuroNCAP tests. The reliability of this car is in the neighborhood with BMW of the third series and Passat.

In 2008, the model underwent another restyling. Only the appearance changed - the technical characteristics remained the same.

Unfortunately, only one version of the car was supplied to Russia - with a 4-cylinder 2.2-liter 147-horsepower engine.
