English football player Neville Phil

Neville Phil is a former English football player and acting coach, the last club of which was the Spanish "Valencia". This year he turned 39 years old, so his coaching path is just beginning. Neville Phil played in the position of the defensive midfielder when he was a football player, but could also play on both flanks of defense.

Carier start

Neville Phil was born on January 21, 1977 in England, where at the age of thirteen he was selected to one of the strongest clubs in the country, Manchester United. There he played for youth teams of different age categories for five years, until he was offered a professional contract. Even then it was clear that United is growing a new talent, and Neville Phil proved this by playing three matches for the club before he signed a professional contract with him.

The game for Manchester United

Phil Neville, whose photos already appeared on the covers of the leading sports publications of the country, did not yet suspect that eventually he would become a legend of the club. But already in his first professional season he played as many as 34 matches. By 1997, the 20-year-old became a permanent base player and gradually became one of the key players on the field. Ten years the player spent at United, winning six championship titles in England, three FA Cups and becoming the Champions League winner in 1999 when he was only 22 years old. In total for "маникунианцев" the football player has spent 386 matches, having hammered thus eight goals. However, in 2005 it became clear that Phil Neville was not going to spend his entire career in Manchester, so he moved to Everton, who paid for the player about six million euros.

Going to Everton

Naturally, in Everton, Neville immediately got a place in the starting lineup, which he did not lose during all eight years spent in the new club. Unfortunately, in the "Everton" Phil could not add a single trophy to his collection. He played 303 games, having scored five goals. With this result, he entered the top ten legendary football players of the club, who spent for him the maximum number of matches. Career football player Neville decided to finish only in 2013, when he was 36 years old.

National team appearances

In the England national team, Phil made his debut in 1996, but was not called forth again often. During his entire career, he played only 59 matches in the England national team's T-shirt. After just one match, he went to the European Championship-1996, but in all matches he stayed on the bench. The next major tournament, which went to Neville, - the European Championship 2000, but there he already acted as a player of the basis. At the 2004 European Championships, he was again in the reserve position and played only in two games, and this was his last major tournament. Neville's last match for the national team took place in October 2010, it was a game against the Estonian national team.

Coach career

Immediately after the completion of his career, Neville decided to become a coach and in the summer of 2013 he was promoted to assistant David Moyes in Manchester United. There he worked only for one year, after which he took a short break and in the summer of 2015 became an assistant coach in the "Valencia". Another year he worked in the club, after which he left and until today so far remains without a coaching post.

Personal life

What about the footballer's personal life? Phil Neville and his wife Julie have two children - Harvey's son and daughter Isabella. Since 2014, Phil is a vegetarian - two years ago, his wife offered him two weeks to live on a diet without meat, and since then he has not returned to eating this product. If we talk about earlier years, then at Elton High School Neville already demonstrated excellent football skills, because during all five years that he spent there, Phil was the captain of his team.
