Enamel PF-266: characteristics and application

It so happened that the wooden floors in the house often paint with paint. This method of finishing is still encountered. Only the quality of the paints that are used for this has changed. Today, one of the options for such a tool is enamel PF-266. The surface treated by it becomes smooth and has a pleasant shine. The coating itself is characterized by wear resistance, resistance to mechanical influences and high adhesion to the substrate.

Features and specifications

Enamel PF-266 (GOST 6465-76) is made on the basis of alkyd varnish. It combines with a solvent, fillers and pigments. Speaking from the point of view of chemistry, enamel is nothing more than a suspension of pigments and additives in pentaphthalic varnish. To it are added driers, modifying additives and solvents. Thanks to various additives, protective and decorative properties are provided.

Differ means of scanty color scale. This greatly narrows the scope of use. The paint consumption is from 150 to 180 grams per coat on an area of 1 m ² . Depends on the consumption of the color of the enamel.

The surface after application of the enamel becomes smooth and uniform, not having inclusions. And it also glitters. The gloss of the film is not less than 50-57%.

Technical characteristics of enamel PF-266 are as follows:

• Viscosity at 20 degrees is in the range from 70 to 100.

• The degree of the perinerum is not more than 40%.

• A non-dried layer of enamel covers the base at a rate of 80 g / m ² .

• At 20 degrees the drying time reaches 24 hours.

• The strength of the film, even during strokes on it is 30 cm.

• The abrasion resistance reaches 0.25 kg / μm.

• When bending, the elasticity is 1 mm.

• Adhesion of the composition with base materials is determined in 1 point.

These are the main characteristics of enamel PF-266. The resulting coating is smooth, shiny. It is moisture resistant, resistant to mechanical damage and abrasion. It withstands temperature changes ranging from minus 40 to plus 60 degrees.

Appointment of the composition

A means is intended for painting surfaces from metal or wood. It is used in domestic and industrial premises. An important point is that the composition is only allowed to be used inside buildings. For outdoor works, it does not fit.

Enamel PF-266 is suitable for staining the previously prepared floor surface. And the basis can be both earlier painted, and unpainted. Most often the composition is used in those rooms where people are periodically, rather than permanently. In such situations, the paint is a protective compound for the floor, and not its finishing finish. That is why the enamel is often packed in metal cans of large volumes (30 or 50 liters). Individuals use this remedy extremely rarely. Usually, it is acquired by its construction organizations, which repair public premises (dormitories, locker rooms and so on).

Preparation of enamel for application

The use of enamel is permissible only after carrying out preparatory work. It is necessary to prepare both the paint itself and the surface to be treated.

Preparation of enamel PF-266 for use is the following:

• Open the lid and remove the film that forms on the surface of the composition.

• Thoroughly mix the enamel. For this you can use a drill with a special nozzle. The composition should be homogeneous.

• If necessary, dilute the enamel with a solvent. As the latter, you can use white spirit, turpentine or a solvent PC-2. It is admissible to add no more than 10% of the solvent.

• After mixing, the composition must be filtered. To do this, use normal gauze.

This concludes the preparation of the enamel, the composition is ready for use.

Surface preparation for treatment

The base, which is planned to be painted with enamel PF-266, must be prepared beforehand. The surface must be clean. It is washed first with a detergent to remove all kinds of contaminants. After that, wash the floor with clean water.

Then the entire surface must be sanded. Then the dust is removed. The floor is washed with water and dried. Only after carrying out all these stages of work, the floor is considered ready for application of enamel.

Application of enamel

After the preliminary preparation of the enamel PF-266 and the surface to be treated, it is possible to start painting. To apply the composition, use a paintbrush or roller with medium pile. Can be applied by spraying. Staining is carried out in two layers. To create a more reliable coating, you can apply 3 layers. To dry the enamel, applied in 2 layers, it takes about 24 hours.

In order to comply with safety regulations when working with enamel it is necessary to use PPE: respirators, gloves. After finishing the painting works, the room must be ventilated to avoid toxic poisoning. In addition, it is necessary to remember the flammability of the composition. Therefore, direct contact with fire must be avoided.
