Electrophoresis for children and adults is a very useful physiotherapy procedure.

Electrophoresis is a therapeutic complex for the delivery of medicinal substances into the body through the skin or mucous membranes with the help of a constant electric current. The procedure has a double effect on the body, associated with the influence of current and medication. For the first time in medical practice, electrophoresis was used in the XIX century. Its therapeutic effect is based on the ability of dissociation of drugs in solution into cations and anions that can move in an electric field of direct current and freely enter the human body through the skin. Today electrophoresis is widely used in therapy, neurology and traumatology.

Electrophoresis, although a rather complicated procedure from the point of view of explaining its effect, is completely painless and useful for the treatment of certain diseases. When carrying out electrophoresis, most of the drugs do not penetrate deeply, but remain in the subcutaneous fat layer, which ensures a long-term effect of drugs on the human body. In addition, it has been proven that direct current increases the sensitivity of tissues to medicinal products, and along with this, under the influence of current, the activity of the drugs themselves increases.

If necessary, electrophoresis for children is prescribed as early as four months. Very often the doctor makes such a decision when diagnosing the hypertension of the child's muscles . In this case, using the procedure of electrophoresis, the baby is injected with euphyllin. Getting into the muscles of the child, the medicine improves blood circulation of tissues and promotes the growth of cartilaginous tissue. Due to the fact that the procedure is short-lived, electrophoresis for children does not cause any discomfort. Usually, in combination with electrophoresis, the child is prescribed massage procedures.

Electrophoresis is also prescribed for children for the treatment of bronchitis. This method allows you to create a high concentration of drugs in the outbreak. In this case, as a medicine with abundant amounts of sputum, calcium chloride is used, with a dry cough - calcium iodide. These drugs contribute to the resorption of the inflammatory focus. Similar treatment for bronchitis is prescribed for adults.

Electrophoresis for children and adults is a gentle treatment for the whole body. With the introduction of drugs in this way, the possibility of side effects is reduced.

Novocaine is an anesthetic with the effect of local anesthesia. Electrophoresis with novocaine is prescribed to relieve the pain syndrome with arthrosis and osteochondrosis. To do this, the anode is placed on the area of maximum soreness. Between the anode and the body, place a special gauze or paper pad moistened with 0.5% novocaine hydrochloride solution in approximately 2-10 ml. Electrophoresis with novocaine is usually administered for 15-30 minutes. Procedures should be performed daily, and with non-relieving pains - 2 times a day. The course of treatment includes from ten to twelve procedures.

Electrophoresis with copper is often used to treat furunculosis and acne. Copper has prophylactic and antitumor properties. Therefore, electrophoresis with copper is prescribed for cancers of the skin, such as melanoma.

When carrying out electrophoresis, contraindications to the drug used are taken into account. In addition, it is not indicated in the presence of pustular infection on the skin, chronic cardiac and renal insufficiency and general intolerance of electric current. Also, do not do electrophoresis on the face area if there are metal dentures.
