Historical background

The monastery was founded in the XVIII century. Its history began after the church of Our Lady of Kazan was built. Alexandra Melgunova and her four novices organized a monastery in this place. Mother herself ruled the community. It was she who saw the future ascetic in the young monk Serafima. Mother Alexandra believed that he would continue her work. After the death of the abbess, the community continued to exist in accordance with the strict charter of the monastery.

At the beginning of the XIX century the community was reorganized into a monastery. Diveevo at the turn of the 20th century was a rich architectural complex. In the last years of his life, he especially cared about her. Even when Seraphim of Sarov was in the rank of hierodeacon, he accompanied Father Pachomiya to the community to Mother Alexander. The late abbot blessed him and ordered to take care of orphans in Diveevo. For the sisters who turned to Serafim Sarovsky for advice in their everyday and spiritual difficulties, he was a real father.

Holy springs in Diveyevo

There are many evidences about the miraculous power of the local nature. The holy sources of the monastery and its environs can heal both bodily and spiritual ills. Water from these springs is stored for a very long time. At the same time, it remains fresh and pleasant to the taste. Locals regularly drink this medicinal liquid. They also use it for winter preparations and pickles. Thus, the products are protected from spoilage and mold.

The Kazan source

The spring is beyond the Golubin ravine. This source is the oldest of all existing in Diveevo. There are suggestions that it existed before the organization of the settlement began in this place. Already in the XVIII century, this source was revered in Diveevo monastery, at the time when it was headed by Mother Alexander.

Of great importance was the Old River. It was from its shores that white limestone was taken, which became the main material for the construction of the Kazan stone temple located in Diveevo. Sights here are associated with Christianity. Many of them have their own legends. Preserved ancient traditions that it was at this place three times the Queen of Heaven was. The icon of Our Lady of Kazan was kept in the source chapel. The latter has long been in Diveevo. A large chapel above the Kazan source is on the plan, which was compiled in 1845. It contained a marble iconostasis. Also in the chapel were icons of good writing. Two of them can now be seen in the Trinity Cathedral.

In the chapel there were water-molebens. It was destroyed in the 39th year. One of the locals some years before these events found in the ice of a frozen spring the icon of the Kazan Mother of God. It was a very ancient letter. The guardian of the icon became the nun Graškina. She was able to witness many miracles associated with the image.

In the 43rd year the icon underwent a miraculous renovation. At present the shrine is kept in the Trinity Cathedral. In the 50-ies. The chapel managed to be restored for a while, after which it was again destroyed. According to the memories that have been preserved, one can approximately restore its external appearance. The very building of the chapel was high. On the walls hung a lot of icons. In the center was a source. From it, with the help of a trench, the trickle flowed out. From there you could take water.

In the source it is accepted to bathe sick children. People pour this water out of buckets. In 1991, a bathing-house and a chapel were built over the spring. Several years later they were reconstructed. In this holy place, the sacrament of baptism is still performed. During holy feasts, this water is sanctified. Near the Kazan source there are two more. Both were consecrated. One of the sources is arranged in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness", and the other - in memory of the Great Martyr Panteleimon.

Spring of Mother Alexandra

This source was located on the river Vichkinz until the 60's. According to local legends, he expired directly from the grave of Mother Alexandra. She was buried near the altar of the Kazan church. Over the solution of the puzzle of this phenomenon, modern specialists have worked. They studied the soil and foundation of the Kazan temple. It turned out that the melted snow and rainwater from the entire surface of the monastery land through the soil went to the dolomites. They, in turn, are in the terrestrial thickness, under the structure. At the same time, the water passes the purification process. Through the consecrated ground, it comes up and flows from the miraculous spring of Mother Alexandra.

There are a lot of folk Christian legends about this holy place. They say so, that right from under the monastery a miraculous source flows. In the sixties a dam was built on the Vichkin River. In the course of the works, the previous source was flooded, and a new one appeared under the mountain itself. There are several opinions on this matter. It is believed that the former source again made its way up after the shift of the dolomite plates. This was due to the increased water pressure in the dam. On all significant Christian holidays , water is consecrated here and religious processions are performed.

Spring Seraphim's Father

This source is located on the banks of the Satis River. It opened in the first half of the XX century. At that time, the springs of Sarov became inaccessible to visitors. This was due to the fact that on their territory there was a military facility. There are many legends about this place. It is believed that it was here that the soldiers saw the old man. He was dressed in a white robe, and in his hands he had a staff. He stood on the very site where the fence was approaching the river. The old man struck his staff on the ground, and at the same time three springs emerged from under her. They adopted the glory and power of the famous Sarov sources. Later they wanted to fall asleep. For this, a special technique has already arrived, but it has broken down. The workers had to wait for new details.

Soon the same old man appeared. He turned to one of the workers by name and asked him not to fall asleep a source. After that, the tractor driver did not succumb to the persuasion of other people and refused to fall asleep a spring. Soon the boss, who gave this order, was removed from office.

In 1994, the riverbed was diverted. Later, an artificial lake was built, in which the holy spring water was located. The chapel was consecrated in 2009.

Iberian spring

This source was built in the 70s of the XVIII century. It is located near the village of Diveevo. The Monk Alexander on the bank of the Vikchinza River dug the spring with his own hands. It was designed to enable workers to quench their thirst. At that time, they extracted stones for the construction of the Kazan church. The source was called Iversky, after the icon of the same name, which was brought here. In the 60s, the riverbed was changed. This affected the source: it began to overgrow. Soon his name was inherited by other disparate keys that were near the old cemetery. In the people they were called "the source of the Kirov". On the Iberian key, as well as on other springs of the village of Diveev, there are wells and baths. On Christian holidays here is consecrated water.
