Devi Jones: the main villain of "Pirates of the Caribbean"

Pirate, by the will of fate turned into a monster, is distinguished by cunning, guile and cruelty. At the same time, he is a victim of unhappy love, which makes the image even more interesting and mysterious. What is known about the antagonist, who caused much evil to the main characters of the movie?

Devi Jones: The biography of the character

About the life of a pirate in those days when he was a man, little is known. The character's emphasis suggests that he was born in Scotland, but that's not directly stated. The life of the robber changed the fateful encounter with the beautiful goddess Calypso, in which he fell in love at first sight. Devi Jones also liked the patroness of the sailors, so she gave him immortality. As a payment, the pirate had to send souls of people who had found their death in the sea to the next world.

Under the terms of the treaty, the former pirate could only step on the beach once in a decade. This day was the happiest for him, since he met with beloved Calypso. But when the goddess did not come to the meeting, Devi Jones decided to betray his chosen one. With his help, pirate barons captured Calypso, placing her soul in the body of an ordinary woman.

A curse

Of course, the angry goddess could not help revenge on the treacherous lover. The curse has turned the captain, who forever seized the ship "Flying Dutchman", as well as his entire team into monsters. The appearance of the pirate became terrible. Devi Jones wears a beard, which consists of tentacles. The nose is absent, the hole on the left cheek allows a person to breathe.

His left hand is successfully replaced by a lobster claw, and on his right hand is a long tentacle instead of the index finger. The crab leg (right) completes the picture. The creators claim that when developing the appearance of the hero, they were inspired by the image of Cthulhu, borrowed from the novels of Lovecraft. Of course, taken and some features of the famous captain, nicknamed Blackbeard. It's interesting that during a conversation with Calypso, the pirate looks like an ordinary middle-aged man.

Character

The monster appears ruthless and ruthless before the audience. He is cruel not only towards enemies, but also to members of his own team. The captain of the "Flying Dutchman" hates, when people do not hold back promises given to him, while he himself regularly refuses his words.

However, sentimentality and love are also not alien to him. Surrendering the goddess Calypso to the pirates, he pulled his heart out of his chest to get rid of unbearable suffering. He put it in a chest, which he then safely hid. It is the heart of Devi Jones - his weak point. Legend has it that a man who pierced his sword will forever replace Jones as commander of the Flying Dutchman.

In free time, the captain-monster likes to lock himself in the cabin, enjoying organ music and indulging in sad memories of lost life and love.

What talents does the charismatic villain of the epic "Pirates of the Caribbean" have? Devi Jones is able to teleport, pass through the walls. "Sea Devil" is also an excellent fencer, his physical flaws not only do not interfere, but also help him to fight with people. Appearance in the film

"Dead Man's Chest" - the second part of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean", in which viewers first see Jones. In this part, Jack Sparrow learns that the legendary immortal pirate considers him his debtor and intends to demand payment of a debt. Of course, Jack tries to solve this problem, pulling into their dangerous adventures Elizabeth and Will Turner, tearing off the wedding of lovers. In the fight against Jack "The Sea Devil" manages to sink the "Black Pearl", but people get to his hidden heart and kidnap him.

"Dead Man's Chest" is not the only part of the epic "Pirates of the Caribbean", in which viewers can admire the immortal pirate. In the third part, entitled "At the End of the World", he is also present. The ending turns out to be tragic for the monster, as Jack Sparrow pierces his heart, using a sword clamped in the hand of Jules Will Turner, who was mortally wounded. Devi dies, Will replaces him as the commander of the Flying Dutchman.
