Description of the groups to which mental illnesses are divided. List of mental disorders

Mental illnesses can be divided into three groups: autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenic and manic-depressive disorders. In psychiatry, it is commonly believed that the term "disorder" is equivalent to the term "mental illness".

List of Autistic Disorders

Classical autism is Kanner's autism. The patient has a genetic predisposition to violations at the neurological level. There is a decrease in the ability to control emotions and to find mutual understanding with surrounding people. Autism Kanner includes some other mental illnesses. The list can be supplemented with two more common types of autism: low-functioning and highly-functional. The first signs of these two diseases can appear at the earliest age (about 18 months). The difference between them is only in the level of IQ: the level of the patient with high-functional autism is always significantly lower than that of his healthy peers. Autism is difficult to treat. Asperger syndrome is one of the forms of autism, in which it is difficult for a person to understand the emotions of other people, which in turn leads to isolation.

Alzheimer's disease - in this disease, it is difficult for a person to find words for various subjects, terms, events, besides, he suffers because of too short a memory. Rhett's syndrome is more common in girls, because almost all the boys with this syndrome are born dead. In addition to psychic, there are violations in the coordination of movements. Savant's syndrome: serious mental development disorders occur in all spheres of life, except for one specific area, usually associated with art.

Atypical autism or autistic features: the patient has only a fraction of the typical symptoms of an autistic disorder. For example, there may be disruptions in the development of speech, but the desire for interaction will remain.

List of mental illnesses of the schizophrenic spectrum

The schizophreniform disorder is symptomatic like schizophrenia, but it does not leave a defect: after effective treatment there are no complications.

Continuously-flowing schizophrenia - hallucinations last sometimes up to six months; A person loses his legal capacity. After a course of treatment, a relapse may occur after a certain period of time. The patient hardly gives in to medicamental treatment, psychotherapy often gives insignificant results.

Paroxysmal schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder: symptomatology resembles manic-depressive mental illness (the list is given below). In paroxysmal schizophrenia, in addition to sensual delusions and other typical symptoms, phases of emotional upsurge and recession occur, replacing each other.

The names of mental illnesses of the manic-depressive spectrum

In manic-depressive psychosis - MDP (bipolar disorder) - the course of the disease depends on the sequence and duration of the three phases: mania, depression and the state of consciousness enlightenment. The disease usually begins in the period from 20 to 30 years.

Epileptic paroxysms of temporal origin are paroxysmal. The main symptom of an attack is various kinds of hallucinations that occur simultaneously. This type of disorder can appear both in childhood, and against the background of alcohol or drug intoxication.

Neurotype syndrome: the main sign is a pathological desire to be present among other people, increased social activity. The patient is unable to be alone with himself, but it is difficult for him to listen to another; Any difference between people from himself causes obsessive fear.

It is important to note that on this page only the most common mental illnesses are listed. A list of illnesses in a detailed study of any of the three main types of disorders should be clarified.
