What to take on the road from eating in the summer?

Summer is a time for active rest, vacations and travel. When going on a trip, you need to think through all the details: to make a list of necessary things, to collect a first aid kit and, of course, not to forget about the provision of provisions. But in the summer the food quickly deteriorates, especially if there is a long road in the train. Therefore, you need to choose those products that are stored for a long time without a refrigerator. This is especially important for families with children, because for them the quality and freshness of dishes are of primary importance. So take on the road from food to refresh yourself on the road in a train or bus?

The basic rules when choosing products in a train

The train is, perhaps, the safest and most convenient mode of transport. It has a bathroom, and you can always take hot water. But there is no refrigerator in the train, and the road usually takes longer than in other modes of transport. Therefore, choosing what to take on the road from food, you need to remember a few basic principles:

  • Products should be well stored and not melt in the sun.

  • You need to choose food that does not have a strong smell and does not leave a lot of garbage (for example, cleaning).

  • It is best to take food that does not require additional preparation.

And, of course, it is important to correctly calculate the amount of food.

How much food should I take?

It is difficult to accurately calculate the required number of products. It depends, first of all, on the time in transit. And if you have to go more than five or six hours, then a snack will be just necessary. In addition, the train for some reason, the appetite is always good.

The number of products must be calculated based on an approximate menu for the entire journey time. It should include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, without which the train can not do. But, given that physical activity on the road is reduced to a minimum and energy is wasted little, it is better not to gain a lot of food. Moreover, extra products are an unnecessary burden. In extreme cases, you can buy something on the train or at a stop.

Let's try to make an approximate list of products that you can take with you on the train.

  • Instant cereals with dried fruits are an excellent option for breakfast. Especially if they are not packed in sachets, but in disposable glasses.

  • Cream cheese in individual packaging is good because it can be eaten immediately after opening.

  • Meat dishes: it is best to choose canned food, for example, pate in small jars. It can be used at a time. Lovers of home cooking can take cutlets or little bits, but they will need to be eaten during the first six hours of the journey. By the way, it is useful and loved by many fried or baked chicken, but it is better to pack it in foil and not postpone the next day.

  • Bread or pita bread.

  • Choosing what to take from food on a long journey, you can remember soups, mashed potatoes and instant noodles. Of course, these are not the most useful dishes, but they certainly will not spoil in the summer, especially if you need to go two or three days.

  • Fresh vegetables and fruits. It is better not to take too juicy (peaches or apricots), so as not to be crumpled. In addition, in summer they can always be bought at the station and washed directly on the train.

Therefore, drinking water without gas should always be available. It is good to take tea and coffee in bags, as well as sugar-refined sugar for hot drinks. You can also grab the juices in small packages that you can drink through a tube.

The calculation of the liquid is about one liter per eight hours of travel per person. But if there is a long road ahead, then there is no need to carry excess water, because it can always be bought.

What to offer the child?

Families with children should pay special attention to the quality and freshness of the products. Especially when it comes to very small, because for them, nutrition is of paramount importance. What to take on the road from a meal to a child, so that the trip is a success? If there is a long road ahead, then a cooler bag will be very useful, in which it will be possible to store perishable products or ready-made meals.

Kids can take on the road a few jars of baby food. By the way, vegetable or fruit puree can be offered not only to a crumb, but also to an older child. Also useful for children's juice, cookies and, of course, clean water.

It must be remembered that many children are cared for in transport, especially in summer. Therefore, it is better not to feed the child just before the road. A refreshment can be done an hour after departure. It is better if it is a hot dish - it will help to better transfer the road both to the child and to his parents.

Unwanted products

Having decided that it is better to take food out of the way, it is necessary to mention those products that you do not want to take with you. We list some of them.

  • Boiled eggs and potatoes are often taken on a trip. But they have a specific smell and quickly deteriorate, so it is better to abandon them.

What to take on a bus or a car?

Therefore, you need to choose what you can open and immediately eat without any treatment. Also in buses there is usually nowhere to take boiling water, so it's worth to stock up a thermos with hot tea.

And, again, moderation is important. Do not need to type a lot of food, because many buses offer hot food. But even if it is not so, you can buy the necessary products in the store during the stop.

On a trip, personal vehicles are still easier. If you buy a road refrigerator, then you can safely take any food with you. Another plus of such a trip is independence: you can always stop and go to a store or a cafe.

How to protect yourself from germs in the way

Knowing that you can take on the road from food, you need to think about the issues of hygiene and safety. They come to the fore in the summer, when food poisoning is so frequent.

When traveling by any transport, wet wipes are indispensable. If they are alcohol-based, then they can be wiped and a table in the train.

If there is no possibility to wash hands (for example, in the bus), then it is better to stock up with a special antiseptic gel. Soap needs to use its own, ideally, if it is liquid. Also on the road is to use disposable dishes.
