School literary circle: program, description, themes

Literary education develops the spiritual world of man, creates the need for continuous self-improvement. The study of classical prose and poetry can be carried out only through systematic reading of works of art and memorizing poems. But the value of the book has recently fallen significantly. To introduce children to reading, the school organizes a literary circle, the program of which goes beyond the compulsory.

Why do modern children do not like to read?

Even in the age of high technology and computerization, it is impossible to overestimate the importance of the book. Recently, there has been a trend in which interest in reading is falling rapidly after the end of primary school. Often a child who shows interest in books in the first years of schooling loses it when moving into the fifth grade. The reason, as a rule, is the ubiquitous Internet. It absorbs all the attention of children and adolescents.

How to solve this problem?

The schoolboy stops reading, as a result of which his cognitive potential is also reduced. Teachers note that in recent years the number of students reading literature that goes beyond the school curriculum has fallen monstrously. Both teachers and parents are unhappy with this situation. But how to solve this problem? First of all, the child does not need to be coerced, it must be carried away. Literary circle, whose program includes books by Russian and foreign authors, teachers organize in order to familiarize children with reading, develop their creative potential and broaden their horizons.

Program

The activity of the literary circle is aimed at solving problems that are of significant importance in the general educational process. Parents, for lack of free time, do not often pay attention to what their child reads, if he even takes up any books, with the exception of teaching materials. What is the purpose of creating a literary circle in the school? The program pursues the following objectives:

  • Development of the ability to perceive a work of art;
  • Enriching the perception of the world around us;
  • The development of an understanding of figurative language and various expressive means that writers and poets use in their work;
  • Formation of aesthetic taste;
  • Expansion of horizons.

Topics

Any extracurricular activities should be based on the involvement of children in the learning process. Literature topics that are part of the compulsory program are difficult to absorb if they do not cause any interest in the listeners. However, with regard to facultative education, the most important task here is to win the attention of schoolchildren. What topics are considered by children attending a literary circle? The program can include both the study of works that are not part of the compulsory course, and topics that are adjacent to those that have been learned in literature lessons.

Creation

What kind of knowledge should a schoolboy get by visiting a literary circle during the year? The program, composed by experienced teachers, includes in addition to reading and analyzing fiction and studying the theoretical part. Students should understand basic literary terms, which, however, is stipulated in the compulsory program.

Organizing a literary circle in the school, the program of which presupposes a profound study of the theory of prose and poetry, the teacher seeks to inspire his students the importance of understanding such terms as composition, plot, metaphor, gradation, and so on. But no information can be useful without practical exercises. Therefore, the working program of the literary circle often includes a creative part.

Students learn the work of Shakespeare. Sonnets of an English playwright are one of the themes that eighth graders go through in literature classes. But not every adult can answer the question about what this poetic form is. Perhaps the fact is that at school literature many schoolchildren are frankly bored? A more significant effect would be acquired by literature classes, if the theoretical part were fixed by a small creative task. It is not every pupil who can compose a poetic work in the genre of a sonnet. But admission to literary creativity is a wonderful way to instill in a teenager a love of reading, to develop his potential, to increase self-esteem.

Literature and Life

The program for the literary circle can be different. Some teachers are guided by literary criticism. For others it is more important to involve the students in the creative process. Both in the first and in the second case, optional instruction involves reading fiction.

But why many teenagers have difficulty in the perception of a particular work? The fact is that the plot created by a brilliant author more than a hundred years ago seems to the modern schoolboy to be somewhat abstract, abstract. But literature is an artistic reflection of real life. Therefore, the books of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky are popular all over the world, after so many years after their publication, that they have truth and certainty.

A person who knows how to read (not to put letters into words, but to perceive and analyze what they read), sees in such literary characters as Anna Karenina, Rodion Raskolnikov, Katyusha Maslova, Dmitry Karamazov something close, familiar, native. But only those who already have life experience behind their backs, at least a few dozen books read or an extremely developed imagination, are capable of this.

And how to read the books of great classics to fourteen-year-olds who spend most of their time on social networks? The answer is simple. The teacher should transfer the plot, created one and a half centuries ago, into the modern reality. It is necessary to explain that even today somewhere, perhaps, there lives a person who spends all his time on the sofa, because it is easier for him to hide in his dreams and dreams, rather than solve numerous problems. Oblomov, Khlestakov, Manilov - all these are artistic images created on the basis of the life experience of the great Russian writers. That is why people like them exist today.

The work program for the literary circle also covers works whose study does not take time to study literature. Students read with great interest the books of the authors of the XX century. This can be as the works of domestic literature, and novels and novels of foreign writers. Of particular interest among teenagers is the work of John Tolkien, the author, whose books have become cultic for several generations of readers around the world.

Biographies of writers

The program of the circle "Literary Lounge" assumes a deep study of the life of Russian and foreign authors. Such classes develop communicative skills, raise interest in literary works.

Certainly, the teacher should be a wonderful storyteller. Talking about the life of Pushkin, Yesenin, Tiutchev, he is able to generate in his students love in poetry. The biography of the great masters of the word includes many interesting facts. However, information about the life and creative path that the teacher provides should not be exhaustive. The main task of the narrator is to arouse the interest of listeners in this or that topic. The creative task on this topic is not just a biography of one of the poets, which the student can easily find in free access. Written work involves elements of one's own observation.

Rich material for creative assignments on the theme "The Biography of Great Writers" is the life of Mikhail Bulgakov. About how close the personality of the author of the hero of one of the most famous novels of the last century, "Master and Margarita," written a lot of articles and books. Students are advised to read some of them, and on the basis of the material, write an essay on any topic offered by the teacher.

Literature and cinema

The program of the circle "Literary Reading" sets a goal to involve schoolchildren in reading quality literature. This task is also complicated by the fact that it is easier and more enjoyable for children (and often adults) to watch a film based on a famous storyline than to read the original source. "Literature and cinema" is a very interesting topic. Discussing it, children learn to see the connection between the two kinds of art. There are also a lot of interesting books on this subject that can be recommended to high school students. One of them is "The movie between hell and paradise". The work of the famous director Alexander Mitta is intended for future screenwriters, but the narrative in it is conducted in such a fascinating form that it will be interesting to the students of the tenth and eleventh grades.

Theater

In the program on literature there are dramaturgic works. In addition to the fact that the plot of many of them is not easily perceived by modern schoolchildren, reading the play can hardly bring pleasure. You can not afford to visit a good theater today, but to see a film-performance based on the work of Ostrovsky, Chekhov, Griboyedov, Gorky is not difficult. And, perhaps, it is the theatrical production with the participation of outstanding actors that can induce Chekhov and other Russian playwrights to read.
