Decorative viburnum - bulldog

Decorative viburnum is a member of the family Hypophagous, including more than two hundred subspecies. In nature, this plant is found almost everywhere on our continent, as well as in African and American. Decorative viburnum is an evergreen shrub or a tree with a beautiful foliage. It becomes incredibly attractive when flowering, covering with a white or pinkish outfit, large and catchy, attracting pollinators-insects.

Kalina decorative, varieties of which live more than half a century, has very beautiful fruits, which, as a rule, remain for a long time on the branches after the fall leaves. In some species they are edible.

And it is not surprising that this beautiful tree, which in spring is decorated with large white flowers, and in autumn - with bright and ruddy leaves and fruits, is considered a good ornament of the garden. It grows rapidly, easily tolerates low light conditions, which many shrubs can not boast of. And decorative viburnum perfectly survives and next to deaf high walls and a fence, and under tall trees.

It is generally considered an unpretentious plant, not afraid of neighborhood with large plants or factories, large automobile routes. But many bushes and even trees from such closeness just die.

Decorative viburnum, one of the varieties of which has the name "Buldenezh", is very popular with gardeners, and this variety is especially. Sometimes it seems that this plant, which is rightly considered the rival of such a shrub as a rose, was created not by nature, but by an expert craftsman. Buldenezh, or kalina terry, sometimes called a snowball, blooms without a smell, but its inflorescence is of stunning beauty.

Kalina decorative, planting and caring for which do not require special skill, appeared in Russia during the time of Catherine II. Then it, as a curiosity, was planted in the gardens of high royal dignitaries and landlords. By the end of the nineteenth century, a bulldog with a rose and a chubushnik could be found in every fashionable front garden. Entire gardens were planted in the old days by this shrub.

Diluted ornamental viburnum is very easy: its seeds, layers or offspring grow on any soil where there is moisture. And during flowering bushes are completely covered with bees, for which there is an abundance of nectar and pollen.

Kalina loves not only moisture. She is very sensitive to the soil, preferring to grow on fertile loam. In general, it is a very hardy plant, and although it can freeze slightly in severe frost, it is very quickly restored in spring.

Kalina, including bulldogs, responds well to organic fertilizer, but gardeners usually do not abuse fresh manure, which causes fatty shoots - a treat for leaf-eaters.

The bush is very fond of loosening and mulching. In spring, once a year, the mulch is sealed by digging into the basal soil, and by autumn a new layer is being built on it.

To ensure that the decorative viburnum blossoms well, do not allow the soil to dry out. After all, in the wild, it grows exclusively in places with guaranteed moistening of the soil coma.

Today this shrub is very popular with landscape designers. Particularly beautiful are the compositions from it, planted on the shores of inland water bodies or ponds. Reflecting in the watery surface, decorative viburnum becomes even more beautiful.
